I'm personally hoping that the next-revealed members of the SSoSV are more of the soldier of fortune/grave robbing, tomb raiding treasure hunter types, same as Manta and Cheetah, so let's all speculate along those lines. Who is a treasure-seeking Flash villain? Treasure-seeking Batman villain? What about a less-utilized, totally Earth-based Lantern villain?

Great art, but this was expected. But I'm surpised I liked the story too. Just from previews I get the feeling that starting from #12, the story isn't as decompressed as it was in the initial issues. I already get the Aquaman HCs so I might get this as well, when in HC, since the 2 titles are having a crossover. I guess this story will be released in one HC, with JL on the cover.
It was Clark's decision to wear glasses on Smallville, and it was his idea to alter his behavior to make them work as a disguise. Lois only pushed Clark to put his own ideas into practice because Clark was reluctant to return to his old nerdy persona. And if you believed that is what Lois did on Smallville (it wasn't) and you disliked it, then why is it acceptable when it is Clark and Diana? Double standard?
I'm not reading this book. I'm reading the previews to see if it's worth reading. Clark turning Diana into a female version of himself is not my idea of a good story worth paying for. I don't hate Wonder Woman. I love her as a concept and as a character. I've read many of her most famous and beloved adventures. She's just not my favorite DC character. But even though she isn't my favorite DC character, the idea of the number one female hero in the DCU taking so much direction from a man is not appealing to me. It just isn't. I think it's anathema to the character, quite frankly. Clark tells Diana she should wear glasses so she can unplug once and awhile. Well, pretending to be someone you are not is not how I would imagine one would best unwind. Perhaps Diana should choose a way of blending in that works for her. Because, you know, she's not just a lady Superman.

Looks very cool and full of a lot of new plots. I like how Johns is developing the Superman/Wonder Woman relationship, having Clark try to get Diana a more grounded perspective of humanity. Being a demigod, that's probably going to be a challenge. It also looks like the whole war with Atlantis is going to be sparked by a conspiracy of sorts. Looks like something that will give Cyborg a chance to shine. He's probably the character whose role has changed the most since the reboot and I think this could be the arc where his importance really shows.

I don't like it. I don't think that should be Clark's role in Diana's life. I believe Diana should already have a grounded perspective of humanity or be able to develop a grounded perspective of humanity independent from her boyfriend's tutelage. She needs to find her own "Smallville" and her own secret identity instead of discovering her own innate humanity from someone else. I would like to see Diana driving this narrative of her finding her way in Man's World instead of having a man teach her how to live in Man's World.

Not necessarily--remember that the people on that boat were just as confused about that as we are. All it takes is one Atlantean agent to hack the ship's launching system. As for it initially attacking Orm...it's interesting, because Johns has been playing him as a more noble man--or at least someone who maintains a noble air about himself. Maybe he feels that if someone should risk their life to create this lie, it's him. Or maybe he considers it a calculated risk to stir the Atlanteans even more--it isn't just that the surface world attacked Atlantis, but they also attacked their KING.
Of course, Mera's family/dimension (or maybe now an off-shoot of Atlantis in the New 52?) is a good candidate too. Pit Atlantis at war with the surface world, and whoever wins, Atlantis would be weak enough to take over and become the top dog of the sea.
I would disagree, at least about the style. I feel that Reis and Lee have a very similar style, it's just that Reis is a better/more versatile artist than Lee.
Already looks better than the previous 14 issues. We'll see though.
I think that scene with the glasses was the first time I didn't mind Clark / Diana. Of course, Diana's look in response pretty much confirms how I felt about this all along.
Putting the 2 together temporarily to highlight their differences could be interesting, with them eventually calling it off because they agree they work better as friends. And going forward, them having a history like that could also be interesting.
But them actually being in a relationship longterm, or billing them as "soulmates" or whatever just seems like it'll run out of steam real fast.
Overall it looks great though. Hope Reis being on board encourages Johns to step his game up.
Okay, now this is going to be great!
Pretending to be what you are not is part of who Clark Kent is, in fact many heroes, up to playboy Bruce Wayne. And for many decades part of WW. You have to be rather blinkered not to KNOW Diana Prince is almost a homage to Superman. You have a problem with it, go tell Marston. And you don't even know what Clark is suggesting and what Diana's reaction would be and frankly the opnions of people who don't read the books but have the most to say, I would see as just them needing to troll needlessly. We should all come and troll the Smallville thread but many of us have some respect that it should be really for the people who buy and read book than us popping up every minute there is a preview to say we hate something we have no interest in.
No, that's not true. Clark Kent is part of who Clark is. It's not an invented human identity. He was raised as Clark Kent and he built a life as Clark Kent. Diana does not have any sort of human identity that works that way. She will have to create a new human identity that is not her true self to be a mask. Clark Kent is not a mask. It is a very real part of who he is as a person.
It's a meta-textual homage. I have a problem with the inspiration for Diana Prince coming from Superman within the actual text. You have to be rather blinkered not to KNOW Diana Prince is almost a homage to Superman. You have a problem with it, go tell Marston.
I didn't say I knew what Diana's reaction would be. I said what I hoped it would not be.And you don't even know what Clark is suggesting and what Diana's reaction would be and frankly the opnions of people who don't read the books but have the most to say, I would see as just them needing to troll needlessly.
But I am interested in what is happening, which is why I read the preview and am commenting on it. I'm interested in Superman because he's my favorite DC character with Lois Lane as a close second. I want to be interested in Diana, but Johns is making it difficult. We should all come and troll the Smallville thread but many of us have some respect that it should be really for the people who buy and read book than us popping up every minute there is a preview to say we hate something we have no interest in.
Also, I agree with misslane that Diana shouldn't actually take this advice, or maybe she should try, fail miserably (because she can't be Clark Kent) then try to find out something on her own. On the other hand I love the idea of Clark giving said advice because to him it's the best idea and of course he would do anything to help a (girl)friend.
