You had a male character basically forgo his own super-identity to pay homage to a female character (that part can be considered something new). How do you think it'd read having a strong female character pratically negate her own identity to homege her male former senior partner? I'm sure a lot of people would cry foul, also.
(Though, these days, someone is always crying foul about something, so who'd notice?)

Who has the more precedence, Hank or the Wasp? If Hank putting on a Wasp uniform doesn't raise any eyebrows, why is it that Janet putting on an Ant-Man uniform raise eyebrows? How come she is forgoing her identity, when she honors Hank, but Hank doesn't?

As we saw, that didn't last, even till the point of Jans return, (and we still haven't seen Janet and Hanks embrace yet). The Homage to Janet seemed to fade around the end of Fear Itself, and then Hank became Giant-Man again, and disappeared into obscurity as a pretty generic costume, with no personality anymore. The Janet/Hank reunion issue has to be something special.
