I was very excited about this book (before it came out) since I haven't seen Gene's work for a good while. And it wasn't disappointing. If I recall it correctly it was colored over his pencil work, while the layout was more in a new tradition, without clear gutters, than what one might expect, it was still great to see him return to his most famous character. Even though the book only lasted for 3 issues.
Someone Please pinch me. I can't believe this.
No, it's not strange that UWoSF found a place on the countdown, but the fact that it appears on Dan's list makes it a Christmas miracle.
*Him* and I are like 180° apart cockeyed Yin - Yangs. Can it be that we have one common interest?
That's all I will say, since *He* has me on ignore, it would be like talking behind his back.
... and, but of course. No miracle, false alarm, folks.![]()

8. Sarge Steel
Even if you include the transition over to Secret Agent, this still comes in at 12 issues. I just love this series - a great spy series from a publisher that was just starting find its legs under the guidance of Dick Giordano.

T-8... Mutant Chronicles Golgotha (1996) #1-4 (#5 was a source book)
I remember being pretty excited about this book. It is based on an RPG that stretched it's presence possibly into every imaginable form of entertainment. Though, for me the selling point was the creative team involved in the making of the comic book. Written by William King "Bill King" Pencilled by David Fabri, Alex Horley graced it with ink, and it was colored by Paolo Parente. Last but not least the covers were done by Simon Bisley. My expectations were high, and the result blow me through the roof. Why they don't make comics like this anymore, it's beyond me?

8. Picture Stories from the Bible (Old Testament Edition) #1-4 (1942)
Ok. I admit that I am not much of a bible guy, but these comics are still pretty cool. When M.C. Gaines parted ways with All-American and let it finally merge completely with DC, the only title he took with him to found EC Comics was this one.
As if that were not significant enough for this series to be a true part of history, it also gave us the very first Trade Paperback. You know, those things that everywhere these days. Yes. Their origins can be traced back to this series which was released in a single volume "The Complete Old Testament" way back in 1943.

Day 5...Battle Chasers
Another indy I first came across in the very late 90s and the very first comic I ordered from Another Universe although some of the issues took months to come out. Great artwork...was one of the first titles to get my attention away from Marvel and DC along with Top Cow...
1 Kings 21:23
And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.
This one lost out by a coin flip to Ribit on my list. And I'm very happy to see someone found a place for it.
I remember the erratic schedule they were coming out and the change in the publishing house didn't help either, but it didn't matter at all. The phenomenal art and the adventure in it made all the wait; worthwhile.
Great pick.
Acclaim had better stuff than a lot of fans thought. The Valiant characters weren't the same and a lot of people jumped. I always thought of them as Earth-2 versions, so I was ok with it.
Acclaim had some non-Valiant titles, like this and Quantum & Woody, that were really good.
Day Five picks I'll be looking for :
Shadow state # 1-5 (icctrombone)
Atari Force #1-5 (Scott Harris)
Imagine # 1-6 (Brian Gravity)
Sarge Steel # 1-12 (Lone Ranger)

The Grackle was on my list but I dropped it for Slash Maraud.
Life is what you make it.
Your Slash Maraud listing has prompted me to get it.
The Grackle is yet another Gulacy series that almost made my list, along with Slash Maraud and Six from Sirius, although none of them ended up amongst my final picks. Glad to see all three were chosen by other posters. I'd love to see Baron and Gulacy produce a sequel to this one.
I've ordered ishes of both The Grackle & Slash Maraud in the last couple of days. Pretty sure I'd never heard of either one till they showed up in these listings.
I tend to split superhero comics fans into "People who like Krypto" and "People who don't like Krypto."
Basically, if you miss the wonder of a dog flying around in a little Superman cape, you're in the wrong hobby.
