DC CHALLENGE. DC, 12 issue series by Various.

The idea for this came up at a comics convention party. Each chapter is written by a different author, and drawn by a different artist. The author had to have the story end on a cliffhanger (which he had to have a solution for), provide the title for it, then turn it over to another writer without telling him the solution. Any DC character from their 50 year history was fair game to use.

Six authors did the final issue.

Thanx for reminding my of a great book. I'd forgotten all about this one. Now if I can just find where I've stored it in my Vault of Knowledge.

A wonderful, underheralded product of the Simon/Kirby team. Between the Mainline and Charlton runs, this series ended after a mere 6 issues. Too bad, as it is one of the most dynamic westerns of the 1950s.

    T-9... Jade Warriors (1999) #1 - 3

For this series, it can be said that an assassin from Japan flees her clan, just to be chased by those who were dear to her. Pretty basic. Right? However, she picked a bad time to do so, (Was there ever a good time?) The story is happening just before the turn of the millennium, when the Dragons (as mythical creatures) are expected to return to Japan, and these female assassins job is to make sure that happens in a smooth way. Little do they know the dragon is already among them in the form of their Oyabun leader. This is what Mike Deodato does best. Martial arts action. If Marvel ever reboots Iron Fist or Shang-Chi I hope it'll be Deodato they choose to visualize the event.

DC's first romance title (beating Girls' Love by just one month), this was actually a cross-genre title as it can also be seen as a western.
Great artwork by Toth, Infantino, Oksner, and Giunta plus some awesome photo covers.

Yes, Doctor Tomorrow was a fun read. I'm glad to have listed it as I think a lot of people missed it.

DC Challenge was one I wanted to list too. Experiments like that are great. I'd love to have more jams like that, or the fondly remembered Spirit Jam issue.

    Looking for :

    Xxxenophile # 1-11 (DupibR)
    The Goblin 1-3 (METAROG)
    Hollywood Superstars # 1-5 (MWGallaher)
Skull the Slayer # 1-7 (zilch)
    Monsters Unleashed # 1 – 11 (foxley)

On order for me -- the Hollywood Superstars run.
I tend to split superhero comics fans into "People who like Krypto" and "People who don't like Krypto."
Basically, if you miss the wonder of a dog flying around in a little Superman cape, you're in the wrong hobby.

Jade Warriors sounds like a fun idea, but, while I like Deodato's artwork in most other respects, I find his female characters all look more like frail Hollywood starlets than like warriors. Of course, this is a problem with superhero artwork in general, not just Deodato, but his are particularly noticeable.
