Two Pre-New 52 Loose Ends (Re: Bane & Nightwing)
I was just re-reading the Tabula Rasa arc from Gotham Knights, and was wondering if any one put much thought into the ambiguity of the circumstances that revolved around the blood testing. This is all obviously irrelevant now thanks to the reboot, and even though Bane & Bruce were determined unrelated, there are two points that leave room for the contrary. One is the columnist from the Gazette, he did quite a bit of snooping & got his hands on a quite a bit of paperwork in the clinic. So it wouldn't be too far fetched that thanks to him, pertinent forms were mixed up or just plain taken, so the result of the DNA tests could have been different, making Bane & Bruce half brothers after all. King Snake may have slept with Bane's mother, but that's no guarantee he got her pregnant. If the reboot didn't happen, or some writer one day decides that these events are still canon, they could realistically make Thomas Wayne his father after all. The second point that could be used to prove this would be to say that Leslie lied about the results. We all know what happened with Stephanie after War Games & that lying to Bruce is well within her capacity, so it's something to think about. I'm not saying they should revisit this or that Bane & Bruce should be brothers, but it IS interesting to ponder. I'm still pretty pissed off over Bane's under-whelming portrayal in the New 52 Dark Knight, it felt inconsequential, that there should've been more to it, and I was really enjoying Bane as a character that walked the edge, as opposed to being firmly on the villains side of the fence. His purpose dictating his allegiance. It leaves so much more potential than being just another bad-ass bad guy with a hard-on to rule Gotham City & take out Batman. And on a tangential note, I'd much rather Bane as Bruce's brother than Lincoln March ANY day, should DC ever decide that Bruce does in fact need a long-lost relative. He doesn't IMO, just saying that if & only if.
The second unresolved plot point from before the reboot that I find myself still wondering about is the from the end of the Long Shadows arc, when Dick found the data key with his family's case file on it hidden in the base of Jason's Robin costume display. Did I miss an issue where they explained why it was there? Or was that the seed of a future story that just never happened? Any info or theories?
