Default Important Notice About Amazing Spider-Man #700 Spoilers

New rule about posting Leaked Spoilers early. BREAKING THIS RULE WILL GET YOU BANNED!

Ok ladies and gentleman, it has come to my attention that someone has once again leaked the next issue of spider-man. Not sure how much of it is out there. Not gonna share where, dont ask.

That being said: Amazing Spider-man #700 is not out until December 26th. We are not discussing the contents of this issue until 10AM EST on December 26th. If you decide to spoil it, discuss what you might have found or post scans that are totally illegal.... YOU WILL BE BANNED. No warnings other than this one will be giving. You will get the chance to sit out for 2 weeks. That means you wont be discussing this issue the day it comes out. And that is if you spoil it today. If you spoil it on Christmas you will be sitting out till January 8th.

Again you have been warned. Spoiling an issue before it is officially released is not cool. Sharing illegal scans is akin to piracy and will not be tolerated. Your only option to discuss it here is via private message or waiting till it is released like all those trying to avoid having it spoiled are doing. Once again, discussion of ASM #700 leaked spoilers in open threads will result in a 2 week ban.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

    edit-
Let me also add, bragging that you have seen the spoilers and recommending whether others should or shouldnt pick up the book is discussing the book and still qualifies you for the banning.

Dan Slott has a few words on spoilers on twitlonger.

Well, I guess Spider-Man-wise *I* am going off the internet sooner than I'd planned. NO SPOILERS from me on ASM #700, I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd do the same.

A story is a beginning, middle, and end IN CONTEXT.

A story is in the telling-- NOT in the second hand recounting by others.

If anyone put their mind to it they could tell the world's worst beat-for-beat version of Citizen Kane or A Charlie Brown Christmas-- and with very little effort, make them sound horrible. It's not that hard to do.

Please do us the favor of reading the story as WE intended it.

Please look at this story with pages shown IN their entirety, instead of partially chopped and framed to highlight SOME dialogue but LEAVING other parts out.

Please let us tell you our story.

It's a story I've wanted to tell for some time.
It's a story we've seeded for ONE HUNDRED ISSUES.
This is not a fly-by-night gimmick or slapped together plan.

This three part arc-- and especially this FINAL CHAPTER-- is my favorite story I've ever told in comics!

I am VERY proud of this one-- and ALL the hard work and stunning artistry Humberto Ramos, Victor Olazaba, Edgar Delgado, and Chris Eliopoulos delivered on the page. Hell, our editorial team of Steve Wacker and Ellie Pyle worked tireless hours THROUGH A HURRICANE to get this to you!

Please, please, please let us do our jobs and present this project that we all care about TO YOU in the manner with which it was designed.

End of the day, we want to entertain you. And if you give us a FAIR chance-- in our OWN words-- with the pictures presented in their best light, complete correct and full order-- you'll experience one helluva tale.

That's all I've got to say about all things going on INSIDE the Spider-Man books till the new year.

(I'll probably drop some Birthday wishes, Happy Holidays, and New Years tweets. Talk about he Hobbit. And the new Doctor Who X-Mas Special. But Spidey story-stuff? Nope. See you in January.)

    ttyl
    Dan

To clarify one thing, if Marvel releases preview pages, you're allowed to discuss the contents of the preview pages in threads specifically devoted to that subject.

If news outlets feature any pieces about the spoilers, Shaggy and I will decide on a case by case basis whether discussion about those is allowed.
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets

    One post was deleted.

There seem to be some questions about why Shaggy and I mean by "Don't discuss spoilers."

Don't discuss the spoilers. Don't discuss your reactions to the spoilers. And don't ask anyone else to PM you links to the spoilers.
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets

If you feel the need to discuss the leak and what it means for marvel / the industry or whether you are cool with leaks or not, feel free. Discussing something the article specifically says it is avoiding telling you is off limits.

I can understand not mentioning anything about any spoilers but really why should people be punished for simply in your words "bragging" that they've seen the spoilers If nobody says anything about whats contained in the story OR try to direct you to where you can see the spoilers whats the damage

Hell CBR just put the whole damn board on notice that spoilers are out there & that plenty of people have seen the spoilers so is somebody on the CBR staff gonna be banned for bringing more attention to the leak.

You don't have to say names just do what the other mod does. Instead of "x posts were deleted", just post in this topic "x more were banned"

I would think that CBR would appreciate the web hits (ad revenue and all) on their message board over such an massively intense issue, esp if it were limited to a specific topic thread clearly labeled spoilers. People ARE going to discuss it. They're just going to go to other forums now to do so.
    Recommended Comics:
    Star Wars: Dark Times,
Richard Stark's Parker by Darwyn Cooke,
Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye

I love spoilers! I wouldnt buy half the comics, or see half the movies without them. I like knowing if somethings gonna be crap before i spend time or money on it. Knowing whats gonna happen and witnessing the execution are two very different things. Did anyone go into see Titanic wanting to be suprised by the ending? There are basic rules of literature, comics, and movies that remove almost all of the supposed suprise anyways. Characters are going to act within a certain radius, you wont see batman cutting the jokers head off and running it through a meat grinder to ensure he never kills anyone again like any sane person would. You wont see a movie skipping the resolution of the tyical acts structure (unless its a harry potter/hobbit part1 part2 set up).

Sensationalism just gives a temporary bump in sales and causes alot of complaining by fans who somehow dont realize any change to the status quo is temporary, often VERY temporary. Basically I feel this leak will have no effect on actual sales other than a breif bump and alot of internetting.

I have this fight about spoilers endlessly with my sister and her husband XD

To be fair, it'd be less about the Titanic sinking and more about Jack dying that I wouldn't want spoiled.
I know Kevin Nichols through a guy that knows a gal. Small world!

If nihilism didn't take some delight in destruction one might suspect nihilists were an unnaturally morbid sort.

I tend to agree with this. If it were a day or two early? Meh, you can wait. But two weeks? That's a long time. What if the Mayans are right? Then you'll NEVER get to discuss it! It's all a conspiracy!!!

I'm on to you, Shaggy. I'm. On. To. You.

whats the point of simply bragging?

Feel free to discuss leaks and their impact, thats what the article does. It makes it a point not to spoil it for you. I expect the same from each poster and will enforce it as needed.
