I just don't think they can get away with JGL as Batman, unless he either, never shows up out of the cape and cowl, or changes his name to Bruce Wayne.

Even if they saw The Dark Knight Rises, to most of the general movie going public Bruce Wayne is, and always will be Batman no matter what actor is playing him.

Also, this would be hilarious for a movie idea for Batman VS Superman...

Honestly the former would work for me.

DC comic characters have the gooofiest (if set in real life ) and yet iconic costumes in superherodom. There is only so much bra and cod peice/cape/underwear you can adjust before the character starts looking like an x-man and not a superman.

I don't think most people actually care all that much about the costume changes, to be honest. The Nolan films were a huge hit and had Batman running around in a helmet and black body armor instead of gray tights and I don't think anyone but comic fans really minded all that much.

Maybe it'll get Bruce out of retirement!

I think it's only comic book fans I've seen that complain about how silly the costumes are. Like some deep rooted insecurity.

Sure they look garish, but moviegoers are okay with just rolling with it.

I think you have that backwards. Because history has shown that when the costumed characters are in bright costumes (mostly spandex) that the general public tends to dismiss the movie as silly because on the surface it does tend to look silly. Admittedly many of those that stuck true to the costumes were done by people who didn't treat the concept seriously. But you have to admit that the films that have changed the costumes to make them more real-worldish have been better received than any of the films that came before.

Spider-Man and Superman didn't deviate from the costume much at all and they didn't seem hurt by it at all.

I 100% disagree. The vast majority of the "general movie going public" is familiar with Nolan's series and will be more welcoming of a continuation of that than a brand new Bruce Wayne.

I dunno... there were a lot of people in my audience alone that didn't even understand the "Robin" reference. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole "he becomes Batman" thing flew over some peoples heads too.

Some of the general movie going public(actually quite a lot of them)didn't even get that JGL's character is to become the new Batman/Nightwing.

Intuition would suggest I have it backwards, but no I honestly think it's the other way around. I've never seen people complain about Batman's costume looking too silly. It's always people on this forum who get very preemptive about that kind of thing. I've seen people complain Captain America's costume in Avengers was lame I guess.

Which is silly, I loved his Avengers costume.

Your post only makes sense if one is to assume that JGL dons on the batsuit the day after being given the keys to the bat-cave. Common sense says that time will have elapsed between franchises and that time was spent training.
