FDR refused admittance to multiple ships of refugees from the Nazi's, books and movies have been made about it as it was one of the more shameful events in US history.

As for the Civil War, I hold no illusions that the North were these saints that all did what is right and honorable. The Civil War didn't end segregation and the lynchings.
Sending the kids who could not defend themselves away from ground zero of any potential attacks was a good idea that didn't work

Was Cyke in retreat? What other alternative did Washington have? What you describe is not the same as Cyke and Emma giving up on those kids long before any enemy attack required it and when it was an OPTIONAL decision. If Washington's options were retreat or die then he did what he had to do. Cyke and Emma had other options.

And it is indeed shameful but again it is not the same. Those people are not US Citizens. They are not FDR's people. And I am well aware that America and Europe was full of anti-semtism long before Hitler which is one of the reasons Hitler was able to rise to power because while others views were not as extreme as his, many people hated the Jews. If FDR sent US Jewish Citizens away ie those he has a duty to protect like Cyke did those mutant children under his charge then that would be the same.

Again, there are a lot of shitty things people have done but we are talking about Cyke and Emma sending away people they specifically owed an obligation to protect.

And nope, I took US History in college which owing to colleges being pretty liberal, it certainly was not overly biased towards the U.S.
It's hard for me to listen to people not in my position. A caterpillar can't relate to what an eagle envisions.
