I wish someone would ask the very simple question about how Hopeless would feel if someone comes along the second he's done with the book and starts killing off all the characters he's created. I can't imagine it would make him all that happy as a creator. Writers constantly talk about how they want their creations to be used; just killing them off for ... whatever ... is really a piss-poor way to reflect the creators who came before you. I can't imagine Christos Gage is all that happy about the characters he worked so hard on to develop getting developed to death in this title. And even if I do buy that Hopeless thinks he's telling character stories, there's not really much a point to that if the characters are then killed off. It's called a serial medium for a reason.

This coming from a dude who wishes that characters he doesn't like get killed off-panel.

These writers are working on work-for-hire books. I assume many writers aren't that put off by worrying what happens to characters created in a WORK-FOR-HIRE environment, because they know they can create more and if they really have a character concept they want to protect, they'll make a creator-owned book.

And also, some readers read books for the story, not just following characters. Not to mention working with characters who aren't top-tier allows writers to do more crazy things with them (like kill them off).

In other words, get over it.

Yeah, I don't know who Bloodstone is, but he's the character I'm most interested in so far. I like his look.
