Unfortunately, it is not overly compelling if you were not predisposed to any of these characters before this story starts. Forge fans, Domino fans, Cable fans and especially Hope fans will find something here to give them a boost, but readers plunking down a hard-earned four bucks for a Colossus fix are going to be woefully disappointed as the steel-skinned Soviet superbeing is only present for four panels and his sole line in the book is, "Rrrrgh!"
yes, that's how I feel. Colossus has the least panel time and I can't say this issue has increased my interest in the others. I especially don't care for the testosterone-fueled, supposedly badass tone but I guess that's what Cable fans like.

and even though the art isn't bad I hate the whole grey and orange colour scheme, not to mention Cable's and Nemesis' hideous new looks (Havok's costume is fugly too but not really Larroca's call).

also, Havok being a joke in Uncanny Avengers (or being in Uncanny Avenger at all) was bad enough so after the previews I hoped he would at least get some love in an x-book... no luck here either.

I guess I'll have to wait for Uncanny X-force to find a Marvel Now! title I want to follow. I would love Colossus to join that team too (few Cable & X-Force readers seem to like him anyway. they can have Puck instead!)

That is precisely what Cable fans like. At least the ones I know.

The color scheme has grown on me. Went in to buy some new workout clothes the other day and it seems like bright colors like orange and neon yellow are back in. Half the workout clothes in there had really bright, late 80s/early 90s colors in them.

Havok being a joke is simply him being written in-character.

Hey, I like him. Be patient. He'll get some more panel time next issue for sure. And you couldn't pay me to take Puck on CaXF. He's like a more useless Wolverine...

It's already been shown to be more than that. Cable's last solo was a family tale like the X-books haven't seen in years.

Personally, I think the sadly cut short run of Robert Weinberg on Cables solo book was the best. Although FabNic on Cable & Deadpool also did great stuff with the character.

I was expecting to like it for that, and did, but ended up liking it more for the soap elements even more.

For Cable to headline this book is of course great for fans of Cable. I'm also a Colossus fan too. I agree, this book IS going to be for fans of the characters. I do always encourage people to at least stick around for the first arc. It varies from writer to writer and title to title.
