Yah I cringe every time I look at that cover. It's not even that he is white though that's part of it. but that It's just so 616. With the stupid guns that do not even look real. keep that shit out of the uu. and the stupid pouches that symbolize the liefeld era. ughhhhhh! the whole uniform looks stupid

Exactly. I'm potentially ok with Scorpio being a white guy with dark hair and white sideburns, as sort of a subtle nudge to comic book fans that he sort of resembles 616 Nick Fury, but this cover is just downright insulting.

HOWEVER, if the UU covers of the last 2 years (and longer) have proved anything to us, it's that the costumes on the covers don't usually translate to what's inside the issue (Jimmy Hudson in yellow tights, anyone?). So I'm hoping that this is true for this issue as well.

Oh I completely agree, and I hope it will someday be resolved, but when you look at what Humpries did with a character full of potential like Modi, well.... let's just say I hope we get a new writer soon.

Yah along with the the children of tomorrow ending and the ending to modi was awful. Thor says his son is not worthy and then strikes him down. Yet the fact that Modi could still hold onto Mjonir shows that he was worthy of something. it didn't make any sense.

Ok, first off - the pouches here are nothing like the Liefeld era. The costume is a direct callback to the original Nick Fury look, which is obviously an intentional homage.



And as far as "real looking guns" go in the UU, how about this:



Honestly, people are just complaining for no reason about some things. I think that cover is fantastic. I'm less excited about what's inside, but to write off this new character before he's even debuted is a stereotypical fanboy mentality.

I really don't mind it. It all depends on who he is. If it's Fury's son from some white chick he hooked up with back in the day, then I'd be bugged, only because that story was just done in 616 with Marcus Fury. But if it's, say, someone that Fury fought with/against in the past, then I don't think I'll mind. Right now, it's just a character design. Let's wait and see who the character is.

I never said I was writing him off. I just said I hate the way he looks. Now that I have seen the original I understand that it's a homage so that's probably not what he looks like the the issue. But I really don't like either images anyway and that's just my opinion. I would have preferred an original ultimatization of Scorpio but if he is just going to be the same as 616 then why not just bring the 616 into the Ultimate world.

Also i'm not going to defend that image of Kitty with that huge ass gun. But the 2 guns in that homage looked completely unusable. if you are going to make a ridiculous gun at least make it look usable.

It is an original ultimization. The Steranko image (which is one of the best Marvel covers of all time) is of Nick Fury. Scorpio is his son, Jake Fury, and he looks like this:
