    My choices would be:
    Miller's Batgirl
Dixon's Birds of Prey and Robin
    Morrison's Batman and Robin
    Simone's Birds of Prey
    Puckett's Batgirl

Dixon's (take your pick) run in the early to mid 90s. Robin in particular.

Agree that Grant / Moench / Dixon under Denny was a great time for bat comics.

    Morrison's run, obviously.
    Miller's and Puckett's Batgirl runs.
    Dixon/Simone's BoP
Dini's Tec run / Streets of Gotham
    Rucka/Bru's various runs.

Rucka's second Detective Comics run (Batwoman)

    Rucka/Brubaker's Gotham Central

    Brubaker's Catwoman

My favorite stand-alone Bat-stories are Batman Year One and Batgirl Year One.
It's become clear to me that I generally prefer stories with Batman in a secondary role.

Technically the entire run from about 1971 to 1981 was loosely thematically linked.
My first exposure to Batman was a hodgepodge of issues from the Wein/Wolfman/Conway eras. Those comics are -- sadly -- long gone, and I've yet to go back and replace them.

Anyone know if this era has been collected?

As far as I am aware, no they have not been collected.
