Hurt's not, to my memory, highlighted at all. If you recognize him, props, but it's not a major component of the story. And really, Batman's telling a kid in the present he can never be Batman or the world will end and we see, in the flashforward, the kid as Batman and Gotham going to hell. How's that going to confuse anyone?

I'm not saying these are insurmountable problems. However, there is a class of reader who takes issue with everything not being crystal clear all the time. For instance, with Hurt, we see him in the mansion - Who's the creepy guy at the top of the stairs? What does he have to do with what's happening? Is it Bruce Wayne? Etc.

I'm happy to re-read issues and read about stuff online if I'm ever lost, but some people consider having to do any extra work to understand something to be a weakness of the book, and I think Morrison's work can be an issue for them, in particular.

Batman and Robin is the superior series, I thought, but Batman Inc is great.

EDIT: Wait, it just occurred to me that you may be talking about the ongoing Batman and Robin series, rather than the previous Morrison volume.

It's Batman Inc EASILY if you're talking about the current Batman and Robin series.

Batman Inc. Without a doubt. I look forward to seeing Grant Morrison concluding his epic run, and hen I look forward to reading it all again. :)

    I'll agree with this.

For me, it's a bit more a lack of confidence in the readership - or a large segment of the readership - than any indictment of Morrison's work itself.

I don't think it's a serious challenge to understand the current volume of Batman Inc - or the previous one, for that matter - but there is enough that isn't spelled out for you directly that I'm sure it's something a number of people wouldn't be into for that alone (which isn't to say that isn't the only reason not to like it).

At this point I don't think it can be argued that MOrrison's work is challenging in certain ways. There are too many people who have expressed this sentiment for it not to be true.

My recommendation would be to only pick up 'Batman and Robin' when it ties into the 'Batman' events. Those have been the best issues. The rest have suffered.
    DH: Dream Thief
DC/Vert: Bats, Bats/Supes, Supes Unchained, The Wake
Image: Saga, East of West, Dream Merchant
Marvel: SSM, DD, Hawkguy, UXM, ANXM, XM, WatXM, Aveng, NA, UA

Batman and Robin is the better series
    Better art
    more relevant themes
Plot that includes the entire Bat family when it needs to

I'm just blown away by the series Tomasi had a rough start but he brings a lot of interesting ideas to Batman
Currrently Reading- Suicide Squad,Justice League,Animal Man,Batwoman,Batman:The Dark Knight,Batman,Batman and Robin,Detective Comics, Wonder Woman and Jonah Hex

Really? I thought the Night of the Owls tie in was pretty mediocre, especially when compared to the Nobody storyline.

I really enjoyed the first arc in B&R with Nobody. However, I still prefer batman, Inc overall.

I haven't read the first volume of Batman Inc but I have read some of the previous trades from Morrison. So I would recommend Batman and Robin over Batman Inc.

Batman Inc. easily. It's one of the best superhero comics being put out right now.

The first arc of Batman & Robin was pretty good, and the interaction between father and son was believable and amazing.

Since then, it REALLY sucks. The Saturn Club thing? Garbage.

A bunch of people acting like zombie scientologists. But... why? Why, the Joker of course! It's so obvious!

    Totally stupid.
