Who is scarier, Thanos or Darkseid?

Thanos is a cool dude with some fantastic feats. But even when wielding the Infinity Gauntlet, he was never as intense or scary as Darkseid in this scene:

Darkseid is a much scary concept,if done serious.The guy isn't just an alien demi-God and warlord.He is the personification of slavery and totalitarianism.Thanos would kill for his sick love for Death,but Thanos motive is very human in its core.He is a lover who cries and yearn for his lover's attention. In a world of Thanos,maybe life would be minimal and black silence reign,but in a world where Darkseid had the anti-life equation,every being in the cosmos would be without free will.Every lifeform would be a vacant,lifeless existance who will live only to worship Darkseid. A living death and an empty life under Darkseid's dark glory.

Slavery and totalitarianism aren't very human motivations? Lots of humans want that kind of control.

If you want an explicitly inhuman motivation, you probably have to go for something like a nature spirit who takes the form of a massive wood-spider and wants first and foremost to weave a vast, palatial funnel web out of crystallized nostalgia stolen from those who come to close to it's forest.

Thanos is awesome and badass, but not scary, I think.

Can anyone think of anything that Thanos has done that truly was scary? It doesn't have to be on a large scale, but something that will indeed get to you as frightening.

Thanos is a guy trying very hard to woo the love of his life.

Thus even if he is about to destroy your entire planet there is a part of you that hopes he gets the girl.

Therefore, Darkseid is scarier.

actually he did after drax ripped out his heart. He did die and ended up as death's consort. Defeated by mental issues is the after effect after accomplishing what he set out to do in the first place.
