    Default REVIEW: Batman, #15

In "Batman" #15, the Joker just keeps getting a little more creepy and a lot more dark, thanks to Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo.

Great stuff again from Snyder, and the Jokers master plan unfolds in more terrifying ways....

Yup, this time we are on the same page with a 4 of 5 stars. Unlike #14 which I felt came to a screeching halt with the Joker's ramblings, here at least the chit chat - while in excess - kept the ball rolling. I loved the twists in the story, especially the grave mistake that Batman made in fighting the Joker which I hope gets fleshed out later in a way that keeps him away from the uber-violent gritty character he has played recently. I did NOT like Batgirl being all "Oh gosh! My mom!" while all the men were stoic and brave. While I liked the Bat and Robins' scene overall, I did feel I was being beat over the head with Bruce's motivation by the time we got to the third iteration of "I was only trying to protect you" and "Goddamnit the Joker did NOT get into the cave!"

The back-up tale to me again showed the shortcomings of having a brilliant but relatively inexperienced writer at the helm - and an editor that doesn't step up to the plate and, you know, actually edit a story. The set-up and meat of the 10-pager was awesome but the climax and resolution, while appropriately short due to the story size, were blunt to the point of being little more than a checklist of plot points necessary to nicely wrap up the "back up" status of this back-up story. Art was great too, unlike last issue which I felt didn't really deliver esp in colors.

Comic Book Writing 101: SHOW DON'T TELL!

However the pace overall was great, art was top notch, and I like the story development esp the Arkham angle.

It was awesome! But not that much happened. It basically just continues to show that it is building up to something big!!! (Hopefully), but Scott Snyder rarely disappoints. I wish a little more would have happened, there wasn't much action. I liked the creepiness of how much the Joker shows his uncanny infatuation with Batman. Can't wait for 16!!!!!!!
