Apologies to Liu. No-one should be blamed unfairly for that hot mess, aka I paid $5 for the X-Men talking with Kyle.

However, we can agree to disagree though but imo not only was it not weak or lacking in direction, there was a purpose, the first arc had to reset and redefine and actually remind the reader who the character is, what he is about. New reader friendly/and for those who remembered him from the past but didn't buy comics. IMO - after the character assassination in XML for the last 7 years, it was a much needed part for his character.

I've enjoyed every issue but you can pick it up at any point, another nice thing about this particular book. It's just nice reading about Gambit.
Like I said, I thought Asmus' characterisation of Gambit was good, and enjoyed it on that level. I do not regret the two copies I bought of every issue, since it was awesome to see Gambit - real Gambit! - again. But, after the first issue, the story seemed to veer off into somewhat generic Indiana Jones territory, and did not have as much pay-off as it could have. I think Asmus has fixed all of those issues with the second arc, and now we get awesome Gambit in awesome stories. But, obviously, YMMV.

Not busting your chops either, you said "weak and lack of direction". That is the only thing I am disagreeing with because it had direction and what long time readers seem to forget is that the Gambit we know and loved had been missing for a long time. The direction hasn't changed, its just morphed from the very first issue.

    As you said, YMMV.

AGREED!!! In opening his mouth... Kyle ruined it all! (and yes... I'm aware of the phrasing of that sentence )

I'm enjoying AXM overall (including Northstar and Kyle) and I'm curious enough to see what the new artist will bring to the book that I'm going to sit through a Warbird spotlight, but the action on this title tends to take a backseat to the dialogue. Something to keep in mind if you're more in line for something faster-paced, like the Gambit solo.
