What a waste, to have all those figures but have them stuck in packaging. If he loves Batman, he should take them out! Play with them! Pose them! Display them!

Also, not a whole lot of villains in that lineup. That was always my problem as a kid - too many Batman, never enough villains.

I prefer to keep them on the card as well. I like the different card backs and feel they display more nicely.

Is there a big difference when you collect them and card them? do they lose value

Haytil, you seem to have an unyielding hatred for packaging of all sorts...whether it's me bagging/boarding my TPB collection or this guy keeping his toys in the packaging.

Pull List: None. Moving to trade-waiting.

That's never been a motivating factor for me, so I don't really know. I just like the way they look on card.

(And I don't really "play" with figures, so....)

A MOC (Mint on Card) figure will generally be worth more than an open figure, but when that comes into play, in my book you're no longer a collector, you're an investor.
i hate people who have clever signatures

I real don't get this. I think it is a waste of money. Many of the figures are IMO ugly and need detail. But if it rock his boat then let him.

    Haha, good memory.

Yes, I think memorabilia (Batman or otherwise) should be enjoyed for what they are - books should be easily read, figures should be displayed, games should be played with. Keeping them locked up takes from their primary intended purpose and fetishizes them.

Nothing lasts forever anyway, so just take good care of your stuff while enjoying them for all they're worth while you can!

True. The weird thing is that I hear a lot of people talking about "preserving the value of their collection" - but, from a personality viewpoint, they're collectors of stuff they love, not investors. Yet they act like they're investors, so I can't help but wonder if they wouldn't have more fun (and feel less stress) if they gave up the investor methodology.

They want to "keep the value" but, deep down, we all know they have no intention of selling their stuff if they can help it, no matter how much it may one day be worth.

slightly ot. I have few thousand baseball cards, they're not worth much. trust me. I also own over 200 novels that are in my house. I'm getting rid most of them now that I have a nook but saving the ones I love or series I love. The books are worth even less.. Part of the reason why I stayed away from comics so long is I had this perception that you had to collect every issue and save them and they'd be worth something..It's why I can't really buy single issues cause I hate things being incomplete in my mind. Fortunately, I don't have endless funds so I can't just go buy back issues.

Still, I have a pack rat mentality, so if I buy a Batman book, I'm reading it, keeping it so I can read it again, not to sell it. I'll even do that when I get like a kindle fire and save the file.

Buy trades that collects either one story, a few stories or part of a story. It kind of solves your problem.

What if you are a Superman fan and can afford a copy of Action Comics #1 and buy it, does that make him a fan or an investor?
