They're the marketing and sales guys. They're not editors.

I can't help but notice that they never actually show the numbers for these digital sales. They must not be all that impressive.

I sort of agree with that. I am sure they are probably better than they were a last summer but without some hard data it makes it hard to guess exactly where they stand.

It's only .99, and it's actually pretty decent. And being a fan if the show since the first season, the comic jives with the show pretty decently and keeps me entertained. Also keep in mind, psychologically it's easier to buy four .99 comics than one 3.99 comic.
It may be small but it shoots quick!

In reference to the digital first portion.

There was a point in which I never saw myself buy digital books, whether it comicbook or text. While I'll never expect is as a primary reading format, I do enjoy buying the occasional Digital First. I blind-bought the first two Legends of the Dark Knight and well, while not exactly what I wanted, but it's nice familiarizing and I can see how it's entertaining. And being .99 is certainly something that leads me to buy, as I really don't feel comfortable spending 3 dollars on a digital book. So the price is right, the story quenches, and that's really all I expect of it, at this point. I feel the same of Ame-Comi Girls even though I'm more willing to buy it being a sucker for the Super-heroines.

    On the Marvel sales.

Of course they're getting good sales, it was a gimmicky renumbering. More power to the company. A good point was made that, all of the known companies were having a good month, My Little Pony, Adventure Time, and so on. Personally, I'm glad the industry is becoming a healthier in welcoming a lot of different genres to shine.

I'm a bit glad that they don't, I feel like it's a bit of an emphasis on digital still being primarily secondary. This of course, is me having a bit of a bias/naive in regards to that market.
