Unwritten series - Kind of disappointed?

Has anyone else been vaguely disappointed by the progression of Vertigo's series Unwritten ?

The first issue started out very strongly I thought, with an interesting premise and decent exploration of literary characters and themes. Things started getting a bit wobbly around Issue Three I thought, with the introduction of Hobbes Leviathan when it all got very convoluted and a bit unfocused.

What does everyone else think?

This thread - kind of belongs in the Vertigo board/The Unwritten thread?

I've read the first four trades and I'm not disappointed, though I don't thin "it's the best Vertigo series since the Sandman" as some say.
