It would also be hideously expensive, with no reusable sets, having to build almost everything from scratch every episode.

Nevermind that he doesn't own the characters.
'The marquis. Well, you know, to be honest, he seems a little bit dodgy to me.'
'Mm,' she agreed. 'He's a little bit dodgy in the same way that rats are a little bit covered in fur."

Though he doesn't own them he'd still get money for creating them. Chuck Dixon still gets money from Bane.

Red was a very quick, and very dark, comic. The movie has so little in common with that had they changed the names in the script they probably wouldn't even have to pay Ellis royalties. I enjoyed both but I barely consider the film an adaptation of the comic.

Planetary would need a big budget but maybe not extreme. Dr. Who manages to get by. And the story already has built-in cheats, like a story about a Hulk-like monster who never fully appears on the page.

Authority as a movie might work, but put it bluntly, I a summer blockbuster with two gay guys and a couple of bisexual girls is going to be a tough sell, and that's on top of the darkness and the fascist overtones.

It'll need the R rating, which is usually something studios refrain from these days!
