Perry White's past

Has there ever been a story that delved into his early days as a go getter journalist a la Lois? Outside of anecdotes he tells to the main cast
have we ever seen this? I'd love if he was a confidante of an old Justice Society Hero like,say the Alan Scott Green Lantern or something and that's
his gut reason for trusting Superman when he first appeared. I'm obviously talking Pre- New 52 here but it's just something I've wondered about for a while.

"World Of Metropolis" #1 features Perry recounting the early days of his career and his relationship with Lex. That and Superman: The Man Of Steel #47, where Lois tells Keith about the relationship between Perry and Franklin Stern, dating back to the 50's.

I don't know the specifics of Perry's comic book history, but I loved Perry's backstory in Smallville (e.g. appears in: Perry, Hostage, Beacon, Finale; referenced in: Gone, Shield, Collateral). Michael McKean was great in the role as well.
