I really hadn't realized that there were so few femal super-scientists.

I think when you talk of smartest females period, you probably start with Valeria and then start looking at supervillains. What really bothers me is that whenever the discussions come up about smartest individuals period, females are always ignored, even though there are definitely smarter females than Hank McCoy and Peter Parker.

Tania Belinsky (Red Guardian and Starlight) was a neurosurgeon.
Kitty Pryde was supposed to be a computer genius
Polaris was studing geology (so was Havok, but I wouldn't rate him as a scientist either)
Moondragon has quite a lot of Knowledge of advanced technologies.
Jocasta has served pleanty of times as lab assistant to Hank Pym.
And Sage is supposed to be a living computer, so, I suppose, that should copunt too.

That's about all I can think of.

    Peace

That's because the books rarely actually emphasize this trait in female characters and almost never have them affect an intellectual demeanor, so few people who don't follow the characters in question closely are aware of it. Add that to the fact that women in the MU, even those with supposed leadership skills, never seem to put on their problem solving hats and mainly just do as they are told, and you have just about the stupidest, shallowest group of bimbos to be found in fiction. Oh well, at least they make up for it with plentiful ass shots...

That's not entirely true. She's no Kitty Pryde, but Emma has a background in technology. The Hellfire Club's corruption of Jean Grey was only possible because of a machine Emma engineered to amplify Masterminds' abilities.

I didn't realize it either until I tried to think of some. I think so far we've listed women who have had scientific training, but we haven't really listed anyone like Tony Stark or Hank Pym who used their knowledge to turn themselves into super heroes, and regularly use science to solve problems.

Does Dark Scarlet Witch count? Probably not.

Though she started off bad, she turned heroic, and had enough tech skills to steal Pym's Yellowjacket costume: Rita DeMara.

Ion was a scientist, but started as a villain, but only because her new form made her crazy.

Sue Richards, the Invisible Woman was a scientist in the Ultimate Universe books, as well as those terrible Fantastic Four movies...
