Sure, but that lasted what 5 years and only in the cinema. Seigel and Shuster did not put it where it really counted . The ongoing Comic Book.

And in a modern context, the comics are small peanuts compared to the movies. So there's no reason for them to be needlessly beholden.

Who say's I was ok with it. Superman was still in his infant stage anyway at that point. DC was still experimenting with the suit up until 1946 when Shuster gave his final update to the costume. It really hasn't change since beside as a publicity stunt or court problems since then.

The original pic looks terrible,so all manips with it look terrible, just like the one above.
As for the gauntlets they serve the same purpose as they do in Batmans suit design wise. They are one the main factors as to why Basts pulls the trunkless look quite well

But it's still the blue print. Why do you think they went with this suit anyway. Because they are trying to match up with the comic since he now has that horrible suit as well. The one thing going for the movie suit is that they were smart enough not to not make it armor unlike those clowns running the comics.

    ....and so
Piont is Superman having a Darker aspect in his costume is not foreign to him.Its a part of his history. The movie is choosing parts of his history, his mythos that will be appealing to a modern audience as they shld

Not that dark. You see Superman needs to be the light, the shinning hope that includes his look. Bright colors are as vital to to that way of thinking then personality. It makes him look approachable which is what Superman should always be. Dark Colors makes one look like a bad guy, which is why you always see the old time movie villain wear black. Bright Blue, Red, and Yellow gives him a warm feel and one of hope. It's the reason Seigel and Shuster went that way with him. Changed those dynamics is only hurting the character believe me.

People like Superman for very many reasons. The loss of the trunks atleast made them give him a try. He is a great character, but the trunks put them off. This is a new generation and DC has to try and get to them as well. And from what you're saying, then you should let those who like the trunkless superman like it and stop saying mean things about them!

Where were they before that. Your either a Superman fan or your not. Taking away a vital part of the costume shouldn't decide if your a fan or not. Think about it.

I see that argument a lot, but a major reason why Wonder Woman and Superman don't have costume variants unlike most people who have had costume changes for movies is because they were largely absent from the most recent superhero boom. Before Returns there hadn't been a Superman film since the 80's and Wonder Woman's live-action show was axed way back in the 70's.

So the only reason people can even say something like "Well they mostly keep the same look" is because they haven't been in movies for some time. And now that Superman is back in the realm of cinema he's getting a tweaked suit, just like Captain America and virtually every other superhero with a movie before him.

Why do you think they went with this suit anyway.
If anything I'm pretty sure it's the other way around. They're pushing the trunkless, more alien-looking suit in the video games as well and I imagine it's just a matter of time before it starts popping up in other mediums.

It got them to check out what's happening. You're not born a fan, you grow to become one. They got interested in Superman when they heard about the change. Simple.

The more things change the more they stay the same. Superman lasted 75 years with those stupid trunks and would have lasted 75 more just the way he was. NO, It's those who MUST have there way and not see that there are certain things that just must stay the same for a reason. So much has been removed from what made the past great and something to learn and understand. This is just another of those things and it's not for the sake of those who never got it to begin with. Leave the past alone and enjoy what came before because it has been here longer then you and will be here long after were gone.
