The trick is, Elewa kind of wants to be Sizwe.

Sizwe is tall, athletic, charismatic, great at talking to people and has the kind of effortless charm mixed with minor intimidation that Elewa wishes he could do.

He knows that Sizwe isn't a good role model but... he kind of has a real blindspot when it comes to him.

It's going to come down to whether Sizwe is actually a good man or not. Which is an... ambiguous area to say the least.

He will, sadly, get a bit more esoteric in the future though. At least partly.

    Nothing wrong with ambiguity.

Elewa should get introspective on his idolization of his brother, though. A more thorough examination of that relationship would be nice to read.

    True, true.

I suppose I'd count Robert as one of the Conventional Crew.

Meanwhile, I am still suffering from Rooftop Syndrome.

But it's hard for me to not give away some important stuff if I don't merely insinuate.

    I need your advice, Nik.

Nah, it's just general advice about how to avoid Men on Rooftops. Nothing that needs to be private, I figure.

And it looks like I'm being dragged away for something annoying.

Well, when I write, I can't figure out any way to avoid giving out crucial details without blatantly hiding them. I need tips on how to be more subtle in my writing.

This is... a pretty contextual thing since it really depends on what the details you want to hide/allude to are. I mean, it's always tricky, trying to strike the balance between preserving a character's mystique and giving hints as to their true nature. Obviously, the easiest thing is for them to be totally indecipherable just so you can go; "Haha, didn't see that coming did you!" but that's kind of shitty writing.

There is... a limit to what I can tell you without details here to be honest. Use metaphor, allusion, attempt to draw parallels between the situation your character is in and the information that you are planning to reveal... this is all vague stuff and if I have more information I can get specific.

Eh, I can work with vague. Thanks, I'll figure something out with it.

No problem dude, you're a fine writer. Sloane is, or rather has the potential to be, an incredibly complex character. You've set yourself a pretty serious challenge.
