Well, to be fair, the concept of atoms dates back to... Greek philosophers, I think?

That said, the understanding of how an atom is structured dates back to the mid-1800s: (See: Richard Laming) So it does barely fall within the Victorian timeframe the steampunk genre usually derives its sensibilities from. I'd probably put any advanced knowledge of the subject as past the era, though.

And thus, I learned something new today. Pretty interesting how long it took before we managed to actually build from the concept.

The archways take them into a scene straight from one of those action vids they used to watch. A huge skyscrapper, one of the biggest in Eden, stood tall in the background amidst a sea of chaos and anarchy.

Several thousand people milled about the base of the skyscrapper, Volkov's HQ and last bastion. They all wore either Reclamation Force attire, the uniforms of his masked soldiers, Vi , and even several groups of prototype robots.

'While you took care of your areas, I had my men and Hilda's take care of the citizens closest to Volkov's HQ, evacing them away. It gave us some wiggle room, so we won't have to worry about collateral damage and innocent lives lost as we fight, so don't hold back. It's only us and Volkov's people here now.'

I already know the answer (or I at least think I do), but what are the chances of someone being able to nuke the skyscraper?

I figure that the real fight is with Volkov, Carmen and Sergei. So the Volkov's Forces are just kind of... filler, until then?

Someone should give me a quick rundown of what's happened since we attacked the armory- I dont think I've missed much, but I do plan on HotP derailing the RPG at some point at it might as well be soon.
