Again, it boils down to Sloane, in effect, calling Rivia a lier when she tried to explain it wasn't psychic and that she had no idea what had happened or why. Then having him turn around and insist that she use her psychic powers on Cas, then on himself. She has been very careful about controlling her psychic powers, which mostly amount to mind reading and the gestalt mind. She has no way of actually controlling a person's mind like that. Matthew warned her about that kind of thing very strenuously back on Mars.

She knows the danger of doing something like that. Sloane didn't believe her or trust her, then he turns around and asks her to do what she has sworn not to do, go into Cas' mind against his will.

It was just too much for her, being yelled at and cursed at like that. Her powers scare her enough as it is, and her ability to control them is usually high-level when she is aware of them. Still, they terrify her as it is.

Sloane doesn't know that Rivia has Leyline, though. Plus he doesn't think that any power other than Ether can affect minds.

So her explanation didn't jive with his understanding of how powers work, and he wasn't exactly in a state to think it through.

Also, he did immediately regret his words afterwards. He was wrong to ask her to use her powers on them afterwards, but I already addressed that.

Also, I realized something hilarious. Back when Sloane was darker and less of a soft bastard, he was more intriguing. But now, he's just crazy and maladjusted. His journey back to humanity has diminished him as a character, which is the reverse of what should happen.

With this group, anything and everything can- and likely will- lead to blow ups, no matter how small it might seem.

Well, except for things that should normally cause blow ups- those are usually ignored.

Funniest part is that this is minor compared to what would have happened if the SHR 2 cast was in this situation.
