Think about it. I have a few DF signed books. What is to stop me from sliding them out, selling them for a slight mark up because they are signed, signing the exact same book and sliding it into the DF bag, and then sending it off to CGC? Now I have two signed books that I can sell.

CGC SS is pretty strict and it gives buyers a guarantee.

Oh yeah, for a personal collection, there's nothing wrong with an autograph. But it doesn't help resell value unless you've got a certificate of authenticity or CGC signature series.

Anyway, as to your goal of buying the whole run for under $1000, that shouldn't be a problem. Everything from #10 on should be easy to find at $1 per issue. And even at $3 per issue from #11 to #160 would leave you $550 to spend on the first ten. There's no way I'd spend a grand on the full run.

Yeah, comic shops that I've been to have generally charged $3.25 for nm books.. so I decided to lower my goal to under $700. Do you think I should go lower? Give me a challenge and I'll proudly take it.. but keep in mind I don't want any crummy copies.

The ONLY issue of Ultimate Spidey I don't own is #1. I do, however, have the reprint and that's good enough for me because the only place near me that actually has one for sale wants $300 for it and I'm not willing to spend that :P

Yeah I got the book for a steal, I got it for about $75 and I see it on ebay from $125-$300+. Too bad I don't want to sell it

Edit: I just looked on Ebay and there is one listed for $1,200 I think that is a bit too much.

CGC needs to present when it was signed. It will actually hurt the grade and it might even get a green label which is bad. That is the unfortunate thing about Dynamic Forces sketches.

After the first 10, i'm still expecting to pay about $3.25 an issue because thats what its been everywhere I've gone. Yeah I'll be travelling far and wide and I'll get lucky with some and pay very little.. but if I find an issue I don't have for $3.25 i'm buying it. So take that into account

Anybody know of a place where I can buy a protective case for a comic that will preserve it as well as the CPG one while still allowing me to open it whenever I want? I don't really feel like getting anything graded right now, but I will want to in the future.. and I'd like to get a case that I can rely on to keep my best book in mint condition.

Well if you want to go for it that way, then that's your prerogative. But honestly, it's just throwing money away. Now, if the hunt is worth that to you, then by all means go for it. Personally, I'd just go to comic collector live and call it a day.
