I like Hickman's team fine, but if I were doing my own version with 18 character's I'd do something like this:

    Captain America
    Thor
    Iron Man
    Hulk
    Black Widow
    Hawkeye
    Captain Marvel
    Spider Woman
    Spider Man
Falcon - out- always found him boring. Replace him with the Vision.
    Wolverine
Manifold - out- Adam Warlock. He can teleport, plus he brings space magic to the team.
Cannonball- out. Lame. lets use Mantis, the sexy green one, has telepathy and kung fu and cosmic knowledge.
Sunspot- lame- but, okay let's put another mutant on the team. How about Firestar? When was the last time she did anything interesting? She has a sexy look, and simple, straight forward powerset.
    Shang-Chi
Smasher- Out- And in goes Iceman. Another mutant, and it's been ages since he's been on anything cool.
Captain Universe- Okay, let's try Blue Marvel. Why not. A guy with this much power sitting on his ass? It doesn't sit well with me. Let's get him off his duff. And put his science skills to use as well.
Hyperion- Power Princess/Zarda. If she's available, I'd rather have a Wonder Woman expy than a Superman expy. I'd make her fly though.

Edit: New concept. Dumped Magik when I realized Adam Warlock can teleport. Always loved Adam Warlock. And threw in Iceman. So we get a little Guardians of the Galaxy vibe going, plus a little "Spider-Man and his Amazing friends Vibe" going here. Plus a Wonder Woman expy. So, this team works for me. Completely different from Hickman's but that's cool with me.

Magik is sort of a terrorist now.

Eh, I'd change it. I'd be the writer, wouldn't I?

    Captain America
    Iron Man
    Hawkeye
    Spider-Man
    Wolverine
    Manifold
    Sunspot

    Minus:
Thor- Out. Let's keep him in Asgard for a while
Hulk - Out. Let him do his solo thing and maybe Secret Avengers
Black Widow - Out. Leading the Secret Avengers
Captain Marvel-Out. I too prefer Ms. Marvel Spider Woman - Out and to H4H since Bendis likes her
Falcon - Out. Corniest character ever.
Cannonball- Out. Should be leading an X-team
    Shang-Chi - Out. H4H or Secret Avengers
    Captain Universe - Out. Meh
    Hyperion - Out. Meh Meh

    Add:
    Sif
    Black Panther
    Photon
    Nova
    Vision
    Songbird
    Ant-Man
    Hope Summers
    Captain Britain
    Snowbird

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting.I think it's silly to make changes to the line-up. let Hickman have his say and let things play out.I would keep the team as is, no changes at all.Tell your story Mr. Hickman, let us get to know these characters. He has already told us that something is going to happen to change the whole paradigm of Captain Universe/The Uni-Power, this sounds like a great story. For the first time ever a human (Smasher) is going to be part of the Imperial Guard, awesome! He says that this Hyperion is not simply a poor man's Superman, and is pivotal to this relaunch of Avengers stories. He has always wanted to use Bobby and Sam and this is his opportunity to do so, to me this sounds tremendously fun.Take me on that journey, please! There is a great mix of core Avengers, new members, street level and power house members. If you want to fight for fan favorites then there are still members to be added, bringing the total to 24. I think I read somewhere that Hickman has said he will take the cast to 22 and then reveal the other 2 later. So who will these other 6 slots fall to?

Spider Woman - Cut. I'd rather see her share a H4H book with Cage and Iron Fist. Plus, already have two spider characters on the book. maybe I'd replace her with Firebird to continue promoting diversity.
    Spider Man
    Falcon
    Wolverine -
Cut. Really don't like him on Avengers, and he's already on UnAvengers anyway. Vison is much more interesting and powerful.
Manifold - Cut.I'd rather see a mustic like Hellstorm take his place.
Cannonball - Cut. You want a mutant on the Avengers? Quicksilver is your man.
Sunspot - Cut. Why not use Storm?
Shang-Chi - Cut. You want an Asian character, Mantis can kick his butt and has ESP to boot. I'd rather see him back on his book.
Smasher - Okay, I'll let this one stay. She strikes me as the most original of the three new creations.
Captain Universe - Cut. Not a fan of the concept, plus, I think having a permenant host sort of defeats it. Photon (Monica Rambeau) is already quite powerful.
Hyperion - Cut. I find the angle they'll use with him intriguing, but anything he can do, Wonder Man can do better.

There you go. Well, with the exception of Smasher, I basically cut out all of Hickman's addition. But, it's all in fun. Still intend to see what he has in mind for his team.

    Peace
Nomads, isn't this really just another Make your Own Avengers-thread? Kind of seems like it.

But none the less, I'll play along. I wouldn't change the team much. Only change I'd do is cut Black Widow and replace her with Dr Voodoo, otherwise I think this is a hella' strong team.

And I'm not sure what your reasoning is for using Vision, other than you like him a bit? He is unnecessary with both Smasher and Iron Man on the team. Likewise, Wonder Man is NOT the equal of Hyperion - really dude, have you so soon forgotten JMS Supreme Power and Gruenwald's Squadron Supreme? :\ HE'S ALL-POWERFUL!!

Likewise, with the night-omnipotent Captain Universe on the team, you've got all the cosmic protection you could need. If you're gonna' add a component to defeat cosmic villains, then why not pick one of the very best and most powerful cosmic heroes?

Seriously... Captain Universe is nigh omnipotent, which is precisely what is needed against these new cosmic villains. She's perfect.
( not to forget that she looks hot as h*ll, imho)

Not just a terrorist, she's not even human! And I don't mean that she's a mutant, I mean that she's an emotionless, soul-less demonic construct! Illyana Rasputin died years and years ago, Magik 3.0 is a variant of the Darkchylde, and if you've been following the X-men books the last few years, you'd know that she's pretty much the last person anyone should put on the Avengers.

I dont think the OP intended this thread as a knock on the book (it just started), it's more about what characters we'd like to see as Avengers.

    That said:

    Captain America
    Iron Man
    Thor
    Hulk
Hawkeye-I've got no problem with team books having cash cows on them. Team books need stars to garner interest.
Black Widow-Cut. But BW's not really a cash cow. I'd replace her with MOONDRAGON. No cash cow either but the Avengers desperately need a telepath.

    Captain Marvel
    Spider Woman
    Falcon
Wolverine-Cut. Never liked him as an Avenger. Replaced with BLADE. Three moves, a TV show and a anime is nothing to sneeze at.
Spider Man-Cut. See Wolverine. Replaced with JOHNNY STORM/HUMAN TORCH. He'd be hysterical as an Avenger.

Hyperion-Cut. The guy tends to bore me. Replaced by Gilgamesh. At least he has the potental to be cool.
Shang Chi-Cut. The character is better as a spy/martial artist. Replaced by MANTIS. Does everything Shang does and has powers to boot.

    Cannonball
Sunspot-I'm looking forward to see how these two deal with their promotion to the big leagues, actually. But for the heck of it I'll replace
'em both with Quasar and Living Lightning as they bring more power and slightly more diversity to the team.

Manifold. Cut. Replaced by Dr. VOODOO. Similar powersets and after the Bendis run, DV deserves another chance.
Smasher. Cut. Not sure the Avengers is the place for an Ultra Boy expy. Replaced by SERSI. Really powerful. Really fun.
Captain Univese. Cut. Replaced by Monica Rambeau. Why create a new cosmic level character, when you have one lying around unused?

I like the line up and book just fine as is. That said for fun here is mine.

    01. Captain America
    02. Iron Man
    03. Thor - Cut. Replace with Beta Ray Bill to cut back on some of the members who are on various teams. Thor remains with the Uncanny Avengers.
    04. Hulk - Cut. Replace with Sasquatch to add more of an international aspect to the team. I have trouble seeing Hulk as a team player.
    05. Falcon - Cut. Replace with the Angel who has been offered membership on a couple occasions plus he can fill the one of the mutant slots on the team.
    06. Black Widow
    07. Hawkeye
    08. Spider-Woman
    09. Spider-Man
    10. Wolverine - Cut. Replace with American Eagle. Wolverine is way over used and can remain on the Uncanny Avengers team. American Eagle would add some diversity to the team.
    11. Captain Marvel
    12. Shang-Chi
    13. Cannonball - Cut. Replace with the new Nova who has worked with the Avengers and been offered a spot on the team.
    14. Sunspot - Cut. Replace with Iceman who has been offered membership in the past. He joins with Angel filling the second mutant slot on the team.
    15. Hyperion - Cut. Replace with Blue Marvel. Anything Hyperion can do Blue Marvel can as well. He has worked with the Avengers in the past and been offered membership.
    16. Captain Universe
    17. Smasher - Cut. Replace with Comet Man who is a scientist as well as having a varied power set.
    18. Manifold - Cut. Replace with Access. Have Marvel buy out DC's half of this character since he will never be used again by DC. Earth-616 is his home universe and he is the ultimate teleporter innerdimensional/extradimensional/time/space and has worked with the Avengers in the past.
    19. Unfilled slot 1 - Filled by Sundragon who is Moondragon's cousin. The team definately needs a telepath.
    20. Unfilled slot 2 - Filled by Dr. Druid's son Druid who fills the teams magical slot.
    21. Unfilled slot 3 - Filled by Volcana for no other reason than i like the character and she has not been used in forever.
    22. Unfilled slot 4 - Filled by Sepulcre/Shadowoman.

Yes. Thank you. Read the first post, people. It's an exercise for fun. I'm just adressing a cummon complaint I've seen in the discussion thread of the first issue. Just giving people a chance to comment on the initial line-up of Hickman and say what they like or not about it. I said it in the first post. IT'S JUST FOR FUN!

    Peace

And I'm not sure what your reasoning is for using Vision, other than you like him a bit? He is unnecessary with both Smasher and Iron Man on the team.
For one, personality wise, the Vision is completely unique. And I'm pretty sue he can take out both you mentioned. At once. He did take out your ALL POWERFUL Hyperion once. Easily.

Likewise, Wonder Man is NOT the equal of Hyperion - really dude, have you so soon forgotten JMS Supreme Power and Gruenwald's Squadron Supreme? :\ HE'S ALL-POWERFUL!!
Well, never warmed up to the Supreme Power version, so really know very little about it (Seems this version of Zarda also flies, when Gru's doesn't). But I answerd in another thread about the limist of classic Hyperion's powers (mostly against Thor's). Here it is:

Only if this Hyperion is supposed to be tougher than the rest. Thor has beat Hyperion pleanty of times in the past. In the old handbooks Hyperion was always listed as an 85 tonner against Thor's 100 and up. Even Wonder Man (90) was supposed to be stronger than him. Hyperion's become truly dangerous when they become totally ruthless, and really go for the kill, such as happened when Wonder Man faced a dead bad Hyperion in an old Avengers annual or with King Hyperion. However, we also have never seen an unrestrained Thor always going for the kill. I've may have been okay with Superman beating Thor in AvsJLA (he IS Superman after all), however, against Hyperion (any of them) my money is on Thor (a well written one, at least).

    Peace

Just not a fan of the basic concept of the character (all powerful energy that moves from host to host to deal with specific threat). Annihilation Starlord and Conquest were the only places I liked it. (and it was fun when Spidey had it) Anyway, I do think that a permenat host sort of defeats the purpose of the original concept, and make it just another cosmic powerhouse, of which there are no shortage of. But,let's see.

    Peace

I think I am changing my picks. What I have in mind, is Avengers being a luanching spot for new series. Hickman's graphic seems to dictate that each main/member has their own squad. Which should keep this book very fresh. Basically having access to 6 Fantastic Fours in one title. So this is my official roster.

Captain America and MI-13 (BLADE,SPITFIRE,CAPTAIN BRITAIN)
Black Widow and the Secret Warriors (Eden,YoYo,and Quake)
Hulk and Gamma(ALpha) Flight( Guardian,Northstar, and Shaman)
Thor and Supreme Power(Hyperion,Zarda, and Blur)
Iron Man and the New Mutants(Cannonball,Sunspot, and Karma)
Hawkeye and the Thuderbolts(Ghost,Songbird, and Mach 3)

at this point the only characters i would remove are Wolverine and Spider-Woman. i'd replace them with either Vision, Black Knight, Photon or Songbird.

    lolololol

On a less childish note, this may have been created with fun intentions but it is built on a negative viewpoint that there is something wrong with the line-up. Take that away and it is nothing more than a create your own team thread.

My earlier comment was aimed more towards others comments, though.

I don't see it as a dream line-up or whatever, but as a comment on a specific line-up, so, no. Just an exercise in fun.
It is no longer a comment about this specific line-up when people are changing nearly half (or over half) of the line-up. It is a create your own dream team.
