It doesn't matter how many times you say it, the Illuminati has no leader. No one, NO ONE will defer to the Black Panther when it comes to decision making. No one will defer to anyone, they will all expect to have the final word, because in their minds, they are simply the smartest, strongest, wisest, handsomest, guy in the room and there's no way they wouldn't be the leader.

If you're right, then Panther just becomes another egocentric idiot like the rest of them.
Visited NY and DC and saw Spider-Man Turn off the Dark.

I feel Hickman is probably exaggerating the degree of posturing, egoistic alpha-maleness present here,

presumably out of cackling glee toward getting to work with such a potentially combustible lineup.

T'Challa, Reed and Beast are all about as humble as dudes that smart and influential can be presented (which is to say, not very humble at all by normal standards, but certainly not haughty to Namor or Black Bolt extremes) and will presumably be written as relatively reasonable. Writer can preserve the "everyone at odds, Machiavellian wheels within wheels, constantly shifting power dynamics" feel of the group without all of those somewhat comical descriptions being made literal.
