I'm interested in it enough to at least warrant a try . . . as long as the wet blanket Kyle doesn't tag along and ruin the whole thing with his excessive whimpering.

I like the Age of Apocalypse, and I like AOA Nightcrawler.

How are David Lapham's half a dozen Sage ripoffs going to deal with the real thing?

The first Apocalypse is dead as of the first AoA arc. Weapon Omega (AoA Wolverine) is the "new" Apocalypse and has been for about 10 years.
Why is it constantly revisited? Probably because it's the most fleshed out AU other than Ultimate. Remender started going back into it in UXF and the thread was picked up by Lapham in the Age of Apocalypse ongoing. Maybe the technical explanation is that AoA wasn't really a separate universe in the first arc(as other AUs have been explained), it was a splinter of 616 caused by Legion.

Agree with wanting 616 Nightcrawler back, though there is story potential for AoA Nightcrawler that nothing much has been done with. Maybe this short crossover will deal with that a bit.

Lapham needs to bring in the AoA Bedlam Brothers and then I'll be in.

There's only one rip-off. I'd love for Sage to meet up with "perfect" Monet. Oh wait do you consider Monet a Sage rip-off too ?

unfortunately... it became the other way around. I blame the way Monet's backstory was handled and the inconsistent way Sage's computer brain eventually was written by some writers. While Monet is supposed to be a princess, locked in the tower of her own brain and body- Sage is a purely rational sentient calculator with mad secret skills.
Sometimes writers have a hard time differentiating.
