Batman: TAS is the definitive Batman media, but the comics do occasionally match the show's quality.

As far as the Justice League & Teen Titans are concerned, there isn't a creator working on any of the JLA or Titans comics now that's fit to clean the gym socks of anyone that worked on either Justice League/Unlimited or Young Justice. I don't even think the writers or editors are from the same species. Or they've been into Morrison's LSD and forgot which how a keyboard works. Seriously, Geoff, Scott: quick pretending that you know what you're doing and just copy the cartoons. It's embarrassingly pathetic that the source material is so much worse than the licensed animation.

If I was Emperor of Warner Bros for a day, I'd hire Timm & Burnett to be the new Publishers of DC (with Karen Berger as President) and have Weisman take over as lead writer on both JLA and the Titans. Their days at Warner Animation are clearly numbered, with every DC cartoon now being cancelled. Move these people over to the comics and let them do what they have proven they can do for years now: tell great stories with DC characters. They clearly have a proven track record of being better at the job than the people doing the comics.

    Star Wars: Dark Times,
Richard Stark's Parker by Darwyn Cooke,
Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye

I think that's overrating it all, personally. They're good, but they're not the best thing since sliced bread good. But that's just me, I know there's a lot of fans that live and die by the AU, but I'm not one of them.

In general, I prefer the comics, but in fairness to the animation wing, we get many more comics a year and can thus pick and choose from a broader selection. That said, the animators do get to pick and choose what to adapt, in the same way.

I do agree that Young Justice is more entertaining to me than Teen Titans. I have no opinion on Green Lantern - I consume neither the comics nor the show, and I greatly dislike 3D animation. I have a great affection for the DCAU - TAS to Justice League Unlimited - but it has ended, so to speak, and the subsequent films have been less polished. I do prefer the DCAU continuity to the New 52 continuity, but that is hardly a contest.

    The animated series by far.

You get a much higher percentage of great or at least qualified writers than you do in the comics, who stay on for the duration of the show and often longer, and who are far less constrained by stupid editorial verdicts. Comics at their height can reach just as high as the animated series, but their lows are much, much lower and they reach those heights much less often.

I wouldn't go that far, but it is far closer to the spirit of the DC Comics I grew up with than anything published in the last few years, and certainly far better than any of the New 52 stuff.

I also would add its hard to compare shows like JLU to comics cause there a possibility if they adapt the stories into shows it might be as equal. However when comparing like Year one and under the hood. I feel it is better than reading the comics

There was a time when I did, but it's because I hadn't yet gotten back into comics. At any given time, the cartoon version of "X" could be better than the comic version of "X," but overall, the comics, with it's rich history and various interpretations, will always come out on top.

One of the things that was so great about the DCAU was the continuity, while continuity often causes issues in the comic world.

Still, DC animation is still the only field where WB constantly dominates the competition. Marvel got it's shared-movieverse in order, but they never come close to DC's animation-- series or DVD releases.

Mixed bag. I like Young Justice the TV series more than I do any of the Teen Team books. And, no disrespect to Johns and the crew, I've enjoyed the GL:tAS storyline a lot more than the current 3rd Army one in the comics

I love DC animation. I find it much more accessible and entertaining than many of the comic books they are producing these days.

In general I prefer comics simply because I love the medium, and animated series tend to be focused on a younger audience (for good reason), but as far as characterization and the stories being told I prefer the GL show more than the GL comic.

Most of all though, I think Young Justice did a far far far far (really can't say it enough) better job of establishing a "new" DCU than the new 52 did.

Amen. Somewhere in an perfect world, YJ's Earth 16 *IS* the New 52 universe. I'll miss the YJ comics and cartoon. :(

The difference is that comics are way more variable in quality. Compared to the DCnU, yes I would agree that animation has the upper hand in a lot of areas, especially JL. But even JL isn't as good as say, Morrison's JLA run.

I would take Batman TAS over the current Batman line, but I would rate a few other Batman runs (like Morrison's) higher than BTAS.

Does anyone else feel that way?
You should have made a poll. I prefer the DCAU continuity to any other, even though the pre-Flashpoint continuity had better stories (like corn among tons of crap), mostly done before '92, like JLI, Swamp Thing, Breyfogle's Batman, Year One, Sandman, etc.

The DCAU has such a neat continuity and the portrayals were so consistent.

I feel the same way about Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Young Justice.

However, so far, I prefer any continuity to the New 52.
