    Default Human Bomb #1 Discussion/Spoilers

The reintroduction of Freedom Fighters continues with one of their most interesting members.

Gray/Palmiotti do a good job at making the main character interesting and intriguing at the same time, the story itself is also nice with a mystery surrounding the new Human Bomb's origin and the appearance of Uncle Sam who obviously has plans for the protagonist.

My only complaint here is the art, I don't like Jerry Ordway's pencils but he does'nt ruin the story to be fair.

Don't know if he was in the other Freedom Fighter minis, but really enjoying the reinvented Uncle Sam. That said, the whole thing with SHADE and Uncle Sam reminded me quite heavily of the Avengers. Anyone else? Really enjoyed the issue! Enjoyable, straight-forward. Enjoyed Taylor as a down to earth humble guy, etc.

Oh, you take that back. His pencils are great; it's the inks that're 'bulky'.

I take back nothing! I have never liked Ordway's art much less his deformed faces, not to mention that his style looks dated by current standards.

Sam showed up in the final issues of both the other minis. But really hasn't had much of an Introduction that I've seen. The whole thing does seem very movie Avengers-esqe but is thus far enjoyable.

That's an interesting statement. I've just had a look at the preview art:

What makes you say his art looks dated?

So I noticed there was a SHADE agent named Joan...I immediately thought of the Freedom Fighter character Miss America/Joan Dale

I wanted to read this...but wasn't sure if it was worth the cash.

No, he's right: it doesn't fit current trends in the DC continuum. Ordway's pencils are reminiscent of Perez and Jurgens and harken to those days at DC. (Good times; ah, the memories...)

I felt the same, but just dove in eventually. I mean, the mini is only 4 issues, so it's not TOO great an investment, and I found it was worth it.

Very enjoyable read, I liked the sense of mystery and intrigue.

And I don't give bloody hoot if it's fits modern trends; I dug Ordway's art. Work this good should never be dismissed as dated.

Enjoyed this issue. Didn't read The Ray mini but I liked the Phantom Lady and Doll Man story. I was a huge fan of Palmiotti and Gary's last revamp of the Freedom Fighters and so far this one seems pretty good. I'm interested in the new Uncle Sam even though he's totally a Nick Fury clone. Though I'll miss the old Uncle Sam. He actually looked pretty cool in that turn of the century trench coat. Maybe this new Sam can change into different people. Then again that would be too similar to Father Time. Who I thought was in charge of SHADE. Now Sam seems to be giving orders.

    Whose running SHADE?
