    7. Doom Patrol - Love these outcasts and freaks. Ideally I hope we get a blend of some of the best of the previous different incarnations

    6. the X-Men - This core group of X-Men is my favorite before the whole Marvel U exploded into mutants

    5. Avengers - It all crashed when Bendis got his hands on them IMO

    4. 70's Defenders - The best non-team group. This mix here as perfect.

    3. the All-Star Squadron - Very closely related to the JSA of course

    2. the Justice Society - or the newer version as the JSA

I love those (tragically few) comics. Very highly recommended.

1 - Legion Of Superheroes (Particularly at its peak under Levitz in the 80's)
2 - Justice League (I like most periods but I have a soft spot for the Conway era)
3 - Suicide Squad (Loved the whole of the Ostrander run)
4 - The Defenders (Not old enough to have the 70's run but it has been my favourite find of the Marvel Essentials)
    5 - New Teen Titans (Wolfman/Perez)
6 - Avengers (I started reading during Stern's run which for me is still the peak, haven't read it much since Bendis destoyed them)
7 - All Star Squadron (My introduction to the Golden Age characters)
8 - X-Men (The Claremont era in general, I kept up for it for a few years after he left but not much since)
9 - Birds Of Prey (Mainly under Simone but the whole original run is decent)
10 - Justice Society (Again I like all eras - JSA probably comes out ahead)

    1. X-Men under Claremont/Cockrum, Byrne, and P. Smith

    2. Avengers under Shooter & Micheline/Perez

    3. The Freedom Fighters, believe it or not

    4. The Space Canine Patrol Agents! Tail Terrier, Hot Dog, Krypto, Tusky Husky, and oodles of other super-powered dogs. Hurrah!

    5. Justice League of America, the classic seven + the Atom + a magician (not Zatanna, whom I can't stand), probably Amethyst. Never before in print. Never will be.

    6. The Global Guardians (Icemaiden, Doctor Sun, Jack O'Lantern, and so many more!)

    7. The Defenders, just about any incarnation, from the founding members to the Gerber era, from DeMatteis' supernatural stories to Peter Gillis' Beast/Iceman/Angel/Moondragon/Cloud/Gargoyle team. (I once had the Marvel Super Heroes RPG and made a storyline where Dark Phoenix had returned, and the "Macguffin" was that the heroes had to find Moondragon and manipulate her into once again manifesting the dragon of the moon, the only creature who had a chance against Phoenix. Fun times.)

    8. The Champions (Talk about a non-team! Hercules, Ghost Rider, Black Widow, Iceman, and Angel! Classic stuff.)

    9. Thunderbolts under Buseik/Bagley (with Jolt)

    10. New Warriors, a title I need to get around to re-reading.

Honorable mention: Legion of Super-Heroes and Substitute Legion of Super-Heroes.

I've never fallen in love with Metal Men or Doom Patrol, despite occasional efforts.

    You're top 10, period ... as I've long thought.

A few spots below me, though.

    Keep trying!

    3. Fantastic Four (Lee/Kirby era)

    1 JSA
    2 Avengers (pre-Stern)
    3 Teen Titans (Wolfman/Perez)
4 FF (the first 300 issues or so)
    5 X-Men (Adams/Cockrum/Byrne)
6 Defenders (roughly the first 60 issues)
7 Doom Patrol (original and Morrison)
    8 Elementals
    9 THUNDER Agents (all versions)
10 Legion of Super-Heroes (original continuity)

In theory, I also like the JLA, but there has been something wrong with every run.
