Deci-Belle and I were watching "Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer" last night and were shocked by the last scene. An elf was handing the Misfit Toys an umbrella and then tossing them off of Santa's airborn sleigh.
As we all know, umbrellas make perfectly useless parachutes, and even if the toys got down safely, how were they supposed to find their way under a Christmas tree for some child?
The truth is the Misfit toys were cruelly and comically thrown to their deaths. And one Misfit Toy, the swimming bird, was not even given an umbrella. This bird, which according to the story, could not fly it only could swim. The swimming bird certainly fell to its death any way you interpret the story.
