How is a fight between the teenage 05 and the e-team supposed to end in anything other than a curbstomp? Magik could just summon a couple of demons and they'd overpower the 05 in seconds.

Didn't Bendis already give Teen Jean TP/TK powers she didn't necessarily have back then? Now that Emma doesn't have her TP, the only person with TP protection is Mags or does Magik have some immunity? Either way, Jean can mind fu*k them, Iceman still can't die, while Beast, Angel and Cyke are just there for the distraction.

I think Bendis was trying to get across the amount of Phoenix Force energy that was used on a person who was not intended to wield the Phoneix Force is what affects their powers. The Phoenix Five, being that they were the hosts, would have been the most effected. And if you remember, Magneto, was pretty much engulfed in Cyclops' Phoenix Flames where it looked like he was nearly burned to a crisp, if I remember correctly. Heck, maybe Xavier died because Cyclops' Phoenix Flames altered Xavier's telepathy to the point where it literally shut off his brain. At least that's my guess.

Well, well. This looks bad for Hawkeye then. Can't wait to see where he starts shooting himself in the butt repeatedly.

Magik was always immune to telepathy in the past. Neither Xavier nor Emma was ever able to break through her mental shields. The closest anyone could come was that Karma could possess her with great difficulty. But in this case all she has to do is summon one stepping disk, either to bring a few demons to Earth or the 05 to Limbo, and the battle is over. She doesn't even have to be in the same time zone to do it.

Okay, a couple of my random thoughts about this issue:

1. I thought the explanation behind the power fluctuations with the former Phoenix Five made some degree of sense, giving it a whole "this is the price you pay for trying to tap into powers you were never meant to mess with" angle. And I don't think it's hard to understand why Magneto would be affected as he did get a good ol dose of it from Cyclops in Avengers vs. X-Men #11. What gets me is the fact that it's happening now all of the sudden when, prior to this, their powers seemed to be working just fine.

In the past but the question is now. Writers routinely screw with characters with TP resistence when it suits their story.

And a few demons isn't enough to stop the O5 especially if JG can mind control everyone but Mags and Magik. Unless by curbstomp you mean killing the rest of the mind-controled E-Team too. Either way, Mind Control combined with Telekinesis typically prevents anyone from getting Curbstomped given how powerful and varied one can use those powers.

This is the kind of suspension of disbelief you have to accept as a comic reader. Not everyone who gets radioactive sludge poured on their face turns into Daredevil. Magneto got owned by the Phoenix, and for some reason his powers were affected while the others weren't. That's just something you're gonna have to accept and move on with, or the whole sweater unravels.

This issue was seriously bad!!! If this is what we're going to get as long as bendis is on X-Men then... I don't know what I'm going to do... PF affecting PF5 powers would be understandable but it affecting Magnus because he got blasted by it for a couple times... that's never happened before with PF...
And here I thought that there was something to the fact that Cyclops' revolutionist X-Men were finding all the new mutants thanks to some special power or something but it turns out that these days iPhones and iPads are more useful for that kind of thing than supercomputers like cerebro that are specifically designed for it... That would have made me laugh if it wasn't meant to be serious. Is it Bendis or Marvel and this new AR thing or why does ANXM seem to be a one giant commercial for apple products... Now I suddenly think that a Cerebro app for iPhones and iPads could be useful...
And Emma didn't sound like Emma at all... Haven't read Bendis' stories that much before other than translated but now I see what Bendis speak is... Don't even know how making characters speak the way they would and should speak can be so difficult... I'm thinkin' that Emma would NOT speak like that fellas!
And another problem was that story advancement in this issue seemed seriously fucked up... I can't really explain whether it was too slow or just too fast... maybe word jumpy would describe it best
