I still think the Savage Land Wolverine is a better idea, this is just more of the same...
bad supporting characters and forgettable villains...
That you haven't read and can't possibly know if they're going to be good or not. At least in Savage Wolverine is possible to tell that the suporting characters are going to be bad.

Marvel's big on weird time-clones lately. Perhaps they're establishing Avengerine as "James" and at some point (probably in ANXM) a 80's berserker Wolverine will somehow show up and they'll establish him as Logan. I mean, if you're willing to bring back snowman Bobby, why not an incarnation of a character that people seem to miss?

    These, people.

I think it will tie into his leaving the X-Force operation, being a part of the Uncanny Avengers, and other related changes to the character. Maybe he's trying to leave that life behind and taking his given name is a part of it.

Precisely. Cornell and Davis are pros, it'll be reliable month in and month out, which is what I think people want from a comic with Wolverine in it.

I am really happy with Cornell And Davis being on this. As a fan of the character I'ed like to see kitty and jubilee in the book a lot.
