Good issue. That "Raaaaah!" page had such great movement to it.

And those last two pages caught me a bit off guard.

I hate to say this, but I am really feeling the overly long and repetitiveness of the Rotworld story arc, and also seeing Alec getting his ass kicked every time he gets into a fight

The last few pages were really surprising, hope that's not the real Batman whose head was blown off by Barbara, it would have been way too lame.

Marco Rudy's arc looks great, very chaotic and well fitting the arc, but his Swampy looks a bit too much like an ordinary man painted green

It was a solid read. I just didn't like the art on some pages. It started off somewhat bad and gradually improved each page.

I'm getting so tired of the stories in here and Animal Man. They're not in the same universe as the regular DCU right? At least they are futures that MAY happen...aka won't. Also it feels like this story has carried on for ages.

Enjoyed the art but I am really sick of Rotworld. Swamp Thing and Animal Man used to be the books I most looked forward to reading. Now im kinda apathetic towards both titles.

If the next book isn't any better, I may drop this. Swamp Thing was one of the two or three books that I looked forward to but I am sick of the repetitive, pathos driven plot where things never go right for poor Swampy. But he gets an idea and....things go bad again and he gets his ass kicked. This is starting to feel like some seriously primitive writing that overly depends on sympathy for Swamp Thing as every freaking thing that can possibly go wrong does and keeps up. It is sort of like half vegetation, half Charlie Brown. It is not just the length, it is the lack of skill to carry an extended story. There are no interesting sub plots and quests. There is no interesting new characters that show up and provide insight, just fists or fodder for the rot. I know people rave about Rotworld and I guess a lot of people like it, but the ability of this writer to make this story live is about flatlined. I know people dispute the argument against longer arcs, but I think they miss that most arguments I read dispute longer UNSKILLFUL arcs. Read a Sandman volume. Those are long but expertly woven. I won't hold this up to Gaiman's writing level, but it shows that this writing does not even seem to be trying.

Animal Man is just consistently better - we have more invested, the horror is more horrifying, better dialogue (for what good that does it, I'm pretty sick of Rotworld and it's just an excuse for me to look at artwork every month).

Marco Rudy still gets me to flip through a book's pretty pages. This month, though, Steve Pugh told the better story.

So since I don't really care about the Tales of Rotten Futures Past storyline, I'll talk about what I liked. I liked rotten kraken Starro. I liked Arcane's machine, and the introduction of any kind of horrible technology into his nasty machinations, because I'm pretty sick of The Rot, but I still like seeing freaky, bizarre, horrible things. It's dragged out long enough so it's welcoming to see it winding down toward the end (finally!).

Anyway I don't feel bad about only reading for Rudy's art with a mere, cursory interest in the story. More Rudy. More Yanick. Never bad.

Im kind of on the fence. Swamp Thing has been my STAPLE book so far in the New 52. Have loved every single issue, but I agree it has some sort of different feeling currently. I do happen to love the Rotworld arc, but its seeming to be a little too repetitive, and somewhat not what it was a few issues ago.

It could be that this issue just wasnt enough Arcane for me. Needed more evil. Both Arcanes just felt stupid in this issue. Not evil enough, and not powerful enough. Im OK with Swampy getting squashed over and over, but I want more Arcane, plain and simple.
