Excellent issue. The new team is really bringing their A-game. One thing I don't quite get though. In the scene in Penguins office; is the Joker really there, or is that in Penguin's head? Was he supposed to be shadowed so much that no one in the room saw him? That scene was a head scratcher, for me.

Alright, wow. Layman's run on Detective so far is some of the best New 52 I've read. I'm digging (dirt-based pun) just about everything I see, except...
- some of the Batman dialog in the first issue. I like the internal thoughts about which charity to donate to, but some of his monologue didn't jive quite right. The "Aha!" was a bit 60s TV show for me. But that's not always a bad thing, so whatever.
-Love the Clayface back-up in this issue, but isn't Clayface like, a shapeshifter? So far we haven't seen him utilize this ability. And Clayface isn't supposed to be a total idiot; as Basil Karlo he was a moderately successful actor and you'd think he'd have at least a small slice of intellect. Oh well.
Yeah, the orange Batsuit is awesome and you can tell Layman has plans for this Ogilvy character. Hopefully it pays off. I bet it will.
Also, darn... I stopped reading Tony Daniels' run after the Night of Owls issue and missed the introduction of this Natalya character. Another girlfriend? Really?

Great issue! I am really loving the Ivy story! What a great run on Detective so far!
Do you guys think Ivy is going to be in 16? Just wondering, or do you think the ending in that back-up will be for later?
That back up was so sad, I feel bad for Clayface, but at the same time, I love Ivy XD so I have to be on her side here :P lol.

I'm on vacation this week, and catching up on some of my reading. Just had the chance to read Detective #13-15 for the first time...
I fault the people who decided to add these "mask" covers--sometimes making some odd choices. This was in no sense a tie-in; it was a teaser at best. But, as others have said, still a great issue.
I know! I've never cared much for the character, but I was really feeling for him here.
Huh? Is this from a Bizarro poster? I think Layman's doing a great job.
The solicitations give no hint that this ending will be followed up on any time soon.

I must say, on the basis of their first three issues, I'm quite happy with the new team of Layman and Fabok (and Clarke on the back-ups). I liked how each issue had a different main villain (Penguin, Ivy, Clayface), while maintaining the same ongoing storyline. Some nice touches were the cameos by Nightwing (in #13) and Robin (in #14), done in a very natural, unforced way. I also thought the back-up stories were very effective, and added to the main storyline (in no sense "filler," as these are often accused of being). And the reference to recent activities in BOP, keeping the continuity correct, was also appreciated. I'm hoping this creative team is around for a good long while.
