    Default CBR Review: Avengers #1

"Avengers" gets a reboot with the all-star creative team of Jonathan Hickman and Jerome Opeña as well as a surprisingly new-reader friendly story.

If I'm nitpicking, I think I prefer Opeña on a darker less traditionally mainstream book -- like "Uncanny X-Force"
his art is like Ivan Reis's IT WILL WORK ANYWHERE.............................. i pitty this fool

They are epic drawings for big ideas and yet Opeña never lets the personal touch get lost

I read an advanced copy and this should have gotten a better review. Newsarama gave it a 10/10.

This is the worst reviewer that CBR has.

I'm not going to argue, as I've often felt that Kelly Thompson completely missed the point on many of her reviews, but at least she didn't give it HALF a star, like Greg McElhatton did for the most excellent X-Men Legacy.

And seriously ... if the mythical noob comic book reader / movie goer want to read the Movie Avengers, every LCBS clerk in the world is going to direct them to Avengers Assemble.

Ohhh can't wait for this tomorrow. Most likely it'll be my featured review of the week. Really excited for the ever meticulous Hickman to rev things up.

"Sheen on Hulk's teeth" must've sold anyone who wasn't already dead set on buying this book.
    Bad news everyone...

I'm getting a bit excited for this now. And I wasn't planning on picking it up originally haha! But with that creative team it's difficult to resist trying even one issue.
Avengers Arena is one of the best books in the shops right now, it's seriously amazing.

Her review sounds fair and balanced to me. Whats wrong with 4 stars? Besides, her review is also her opinion, so chill lol

I'm interested to see the graph detailing all the Avengers members that's been mentioned in other reviews. He did something similar in Secret Warriors, and I thought it was a really cool touch and added to the already impressive world building.

Someone posted it in one of these threads ... but I'm not sure which one. Sorry.

EDIT: Oh wait. I saved it.

Really I thought the review was pretty fair.

I thought it was a decent review, and it's not like she gave it two stars.

Well it sounds like since Marvel bumped up the quality on Assemble, retailers should at least be able to sell one book to interested movie fans.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!
