Totally agreed.....I thought his art all but ruined some fantastic Paul Jenkins stories for me in PPSM and groaned when he as announced with the BND team but I have really digged most of his stuff so far though I don't think he has topped his work on Spider-Island yet; that was some great stuff.

I don't see how that matters one bit when we're talking about Ramos.

Caselli > Camuncoli > Ramos. I'll admit to liking the preview for 700, but otherwise I find his characters look too silly, primarily having very awkward stretches in anatomy, and while I liked how he drew Mary Jane in 692 at first, looking at it again shows one eye being higher than the other.

Also, I hate how he draws Spider-Man with a "raised eyebrow" look. When that's typically done, the black of the eyes move with the white, not stay still. You still have the read of the mask to show how the eyes look against the mask.

Huh. Never thought Humberto Ramos would be as divisive as OMD. It's just drawings, guys. Calm down.

That Hobgoblin looks nice but most of the time there is just a wrongness about his art that irks me, whether it's the twisted bodies, the weird posing, the gigantic necks, the huge gaping mouths and glaring eyes, or simply the fact that most of the time I can't tell who I'm even looking at if they're in civilian guise.

I don't like any of the other artists you mention, either.

The major reason is that he's a stylized artist who is allowed to draw several important Spider-Man stories.

A generic artist who drew the first Big Time arc, Spider Island or Amazing Spider-Man 700 wouldn't be as big a deal.

And a stylized artist wouldn't bother as many readers if his work remained inconsequential.

It's worth noting that a stylized artist can also appeal to comic book fans who aren't currently reading Spider-Man, so there are some benefits to it.

Ramos used to be one of my all time fav Spidey artists about 10 years ago.
I really digged his graffiti style, it was unique for superhero comics.

But since then he has watered down his style and rounded the edges of his characters, and whilst he is still great, his work is not as intense as it used to be. That's just my take. Plenty of readers probably prefer his style now.

    YOU JERK!

Yeah not a fan at all. I don't like manga/manga stylized art. Though I actually prefer his work on "Impulse" vs stuff I've seen of his now.

Ummm.. harldy. Scott Pilgrim is its own world. It's not Ramos' Spider-Man vs John Romita's Spider-Man vs anyone else's.

Ramos is my favorite artist in the ASM rotating lineup right now...of course, that could change when Stegman's on board!

His art is damn amazing and a ton of fun to look at. Tons of energy and personality. I love seeing all types of books with different styles of art. Heck, I'd love to even read a book with him drawing Punisher. It's artists like him that excite me when it comes to comics.

I knew you were going to like him because I dislike him. We have almost completely opposite taste in art.
