Terror Titans was a 6 issue mini-series spin off from Teen Titans written by Sean McKeiver focusing on the "Dark Side Club". A plot arc in DC leading up to Final Crisis. Basically, it was a gladiator pit where teen heroes were put under Granny Goodness' (Reincarnated -- don't ask) care to be brainwashed with some anti-life prototype stuff and fight each other for the amusement of the villains and the betting of the crowd. Sometimes it ended in death. Sometimes it didn't. It showed up in an issue of Birds of Prey (no kills), mentioned at the end of Infinity Inc's end (1 death sorta) and in a prior Teen Titan's arc which set this up (1 kill of a new character done off screen).
It featured Rose Wilson (Daughter of Slade), the Ravager, as the primary lead, and a member of the titular group with her own agenda. She joins the fights, but doesn't want to kill. The main villain, Clock King, takes over the pit (as most of the heads were human or killed prior to his arrival, CK killed those that didn't agree with his takeover) and arranges a no-kill tournament to keep things running while he alters the brainwashing to have his "Martyr Militia" be loyal to him and him alone.
The makeup of the tournament only had a few 'important' characters in it. Aquagirl (the third one, future Teen Titan), Argent (former Teen Titan), Terra (cult favorite supporting cast mate of Power Girl and holder of her own mini) and Gypsy (former Justice League and Birds of Prey Member) aside from Rose. Others were either created for the series (about 5), or supporting cast members in non-cult hit books (Fever of Vol. III of Doom Patrol, Sapphire of Power Company, Hardrock of Superboy and the Ravers). Static Shock made his DCU debut in those pages. Only Static really gets more than a few lines and the fights are . . . okay and non-lethal. There's one other major character in it, but it's a spoiler I honestly wouldn't want to ruin.
Again, the total body count is only 3 -- Fever, Pop-rocket (new) and Disruptor (one of the villains, not in the tournament).
Contrasted with Arena, and Hopeless' first interview stating "There's going to be a lot of Murder in Murderworld" (near direct quote) and we have rather different beasts.
The preview pages released so far are not that good and do not understand the core of Hazmat's character (she is sad and angry due to loss, not as some core aspect of her personality). It's also poorly phrased ("I've always been a Hater"). For something he claims to be character driven, it does not bode well when he misunderstands a fundamental aspect of one of the more recently created ones and one of the most popular.
What's been revealed about the set up of the scenario (30 Days long) raises more questions than is healthy for this.
