I've been very happy since the new team took over. Good looking preview. A Batman story doesn't have to break the mold, for me. Just give me a solid story (which we seem to be getting), and I'll be happy. This book reminds me of B:TAS, and there's no way that can be a bad thing.

Chew is great. I'm not digging Tec at this exact moment, but Layman is a solid writer and I have no doubt he'll pull off something cool.

The story doesn't have to be "some kind of earth-shattering event" for me (in fact universe wide events are not my cup of tea at all) and solid stories with decent art are nice. However, so far we've had a couple well written but still by the numbers and very "safe" stories with nothing that has kept me interested or hooked me in. If I'm going to pay 3.99 the writer has to not only write a solid story, which Layman does, but he also needs to do something with that story that will catch my attention and keep me interested. Thus far Layman has failed to do so and I'm disappointed because other than that I like what he's doing. I'm really liking the almost self-contained nature of the issues, the fact that Layman is going with more of a detective angle and that he seems to want to make this book stand out from the main Batman title. His craft is very solid but I want a bit more out of this then what we've been given so far is all. As it is right now there are several other books I read that are more vibrant and interesting than this one.

Am I the only one that thinks that Batman's multicolored suit is hilarious? One of those touches that makes me grateful that John Layman is on the title.

Well Batman does have a history of wearing colored oufits. It's about as silly here as it was there.

i don't i have any gripes with the new creative team so far. i think the book is a perfect companion to batman, which is darker and more serious, while i find that tec is more action-based and light-hearted. layman's writing is engaging and funny, and i like how each issue feels self-contained. also, layman writes characters really well (ogilvy is turning out to be one of my favourites). i'm really digging fabok's artwork too.

Love Batmans anti-Clayface suit! Or whatever the heck that is. It's like a bad action figure.

Good to know this is Laymans taking off point, you can tell he's been finding his feet so far. I have high hopes for this run down the line.

^ it's a scuba outfit (I think). And yes, it's definitely reminiscent of the action figures. I actually went to check to see if he copied it from an old toy. There's an orange Batman, but he doesn't look like Fabok's.
