Why do so many people LOVE Kitty Pryde?

I was going for the upsell. All the other characters on Girls are so checkboxes on a list rather than anything fleshed out. I luv Lena, despite her horrible Captain Lou Albano clothes.

Exactly, Hannah is too complex a character to be compared to a comic book character. There is too much creative shuffle for a character in this medium to undergo development on that scale, the checkboxes on a list does these characters some justice.

Kitty has been well developed two times during her time in print, since then writers have just focused on capturing her voice instead of actively developing her..unless they are Aaron, then they just fuck it up royally.

They should have kept going in that direction for longer than a couple of issues. As much as I love Joss Whedon and what he did in Astonishing, he's the one responsible for taming the bad-ass barmaid/biker Kitty to a core-of-the-team, realistic young woman. Then again, his Kitty was also one of the best.

Kitty is Marnie.
She just got out of a loveless longterm relationship with a man who doesn't seem to get it that she's not in love with him, she's uptight/bossy and a total lipstick lesbian.

I would say Kitty has Lena's insecurity and Marnie's conformity. Kitty never came off bossy to me.
