Default Beowulf vs 1998 American Godzilla

Fight takes place in New York City. Beowulf gets all his feats from the original epic as well as the 2007 film. He's equipped with his big dragon-fightin shield as well as the giant magic sword he killed Grendel's mom with. GINO is just aimlessly rampaging and not any more aware of Beowulf than it was of anyone else in the movie. Bloodlust is off for both.

I don't think Beowulf, even with the original poem version's strength, has enough power to take out GINO.

In the movie, he was able to take down the dragon due to a convenient weak spot, and in the poem he had backup from Wiglaf and was mortally wounded before that. If spears and swords could feasibly wound these dragons, I think we can ascertain that relative to GINO they're quite small.

It's been a while since I've seen Godzilla, but I seem to recall it being taken down by two passes of missile fire from harriers. I don't think Beowulf's best hit can match up to that.

Well, normal weapons broke without even cutting Grendel's mom, and the rune sword one-shotted her. Also I think GINO's fire is actually weaker than the dragon's, since the dragon's was able to melt iron IIRC.

Gino can take a heavy impact with minimal injury, but I don't know that it's skin is going to be able to stop a demonstrably super-sword that's being wielded by Beowulf. Still, it's definitely bigger and stronger than anything Beowulf ever fought.

At Zilla's size, that sword is going to be barely a pin prick. And I'm not seeing Beowulf being able to dodge the massive radioactive energy beams she can fire.

In the poem, wasn't Beowulf's whole gimmick "I find the biggest toughest monster I can, rip off it's arm, and BEAT IT TO DEATH with it"?He was pretty blatently superhuman.

OK, when did the AMERICAN Godzilla ever do that?

I don't remember her having radioactive fire, but she did have I believe two instances of fire breath, one of which was throwing cars and like into the air from the blast wave.

    1. It was never clearly demonstrated to be fire breath or just puffing an existing fire.

    2. It was F-18s that took down that terrible version of Godzilla.

I postulate Beowulf could sneak up her back (gender was also ambiguous for a bit - but laid eggs?) and cut her cartoid artery.

Maybe it wasn't radioactive, but I distinctly remember Zilla leaning down and blasting the military with some kind of breath attack.

He had fire breath, but I don't recall it ever melting metal, which Beowulf's dragon totally did (I think. It's been awhile since I read it).

IIRC it was explained as Godzilla exhaling some kind of gas and then using his teeth to spark it or something to that effect.

The sheer force of it's scream was enough to lift cars off the ground, cause them to spiral through the air, and explode them into a wall of fire. At that point, melting would be anticlimactic.

Melting would demonstrate a greater amount of heat, which could be a problem. Smashing Beowulf around isn't going to cause him any more problems than smashing and grinding him against the side of a cliff at high speed did. Which is to say it won't really hurt him (as he was perfectly fine during the underwater fight right after). And that was elderly Beowulf.
