As much as I like the character, I have a hard time seeing him working as a pure solo character in a comic.

So what I would do is team him up with Eli Bradley/Patriot. That way you get the mentorship angle(Sam's been a hero forever, he has to be an inspiration to somebody) and the original Cap/Falcon dynamic but turned on its head(this time the dude with the shield is the sidekick).

I'd also bring back Junta and Kasper Cole from the Crew comic and the hot Latina SHIELD Agent from the Priest Cap/Falc series.

That way you could play a Falcon book like Person Of Interest with Sam, Eli and company targeting criminals outside the grasp of conventional law enforcement.

They'll use a combo of Ultimate Sam Wilson -- he's the only one in the movie cast with a special kind of genius that puts him with Stark and Banner, who aren't in Cap 2--and the latest 616 iterartion. His powerset is no more than ludicrous than Batman's or Superman's or somebody as totally unfathomable as Ms. Marvel.

He'll get his push. I don't watch cartoons, but he's already got his push by the casting of his role alone. Great character, unique in many ways, and moaning about some dated Old White Guy legacy of "Snap" the pimp is a waste of time. That stuff doesn't exist anymore.

Falcon transcended sidekick syndrome a long, long time ago. For me, Nightwing will always be that "Holy Bat-turn" derp from the old TV show. And lumping Wilson with other black dudes as suitable next black dudes in the Avengers is a sad perspective.

I think an interesting angle to spin for Sam might be mentoring Eli, who seems entirely lost and confused about his heroic efforts.).
Now that would be a series I would pay to read even if it was a mini series. Now who would writer? I don’t know. But I think that would be a great way to show Sam’s social worker side and rebuild Eli-to remove that angry black kid image that he has (or suppose has).
Does Falcon have any notable enemies to call his own?
None that I know of. I would probably dig up some villains that have been MIA and get someone to do to them what Johns did to Flash’s rouges. I loved what he did to them in the Rouges War years ago.
You know what's funny is that those three examples shows that Falcon was chosen because he was black.
Well who else could they have used outside of him?
Blade, Black Panther, War Machine, Night Trasher & Luke Cage-all had something relating to tv or movies that might have kept them out of those shows.
Remember we saw this with Aquaman, he couldn’t be used in JLU (as much) because of the CW pilot. Or Static in Teen Titians cartoon (although I think they could have used him).
So who else black could you have used? Unless you wanted to do like X-Men Evolution and create a new guy like they did with Spike.

And lumping Wilson with other black dudes as suitable next black dudes in the Avengers is a sad perspective.
Tell that to the fanbase that has made it clear that they don't want any more blacks in Avengers 2 and have made diversity in comics a battle as of late.

I can't speak to the segment of persons who don't want any more black characters in the film (really?), but I have gotten combatative about the constant derailing of every thread over the 'diversity' issue. Not singling out any one group, but just the overall trend to mire every discourse about every book in heated, ugly debates.

I don't feel there's enough diversity. I also don't wish to discuss the finer points of the slave trade, women's suffrage, or the Stonewall riots every time I want to get excited about what Steve or Wanda are getting up to this month.

Does that make sense? I feel it's a valid topic of discussion, but not at every turn.
Freedom is the ability to live without fear of persecution. Nothing more, and certainly nothing less.

I do agree that topics, especially this one, doesn't need to be turned into a race/discrimination debate. Even though by the topics very nature it is bound to come up slightly. Lets try to to stay on whats important here.....FALCON. And why Marvel seems to be neglecting what could be an amazing and iconic character.

In the recent Hickman Q&A he did mention that Falcon and everyone else was going to get some upgrades. I just wish I had been able to ask him how much of a role would Falcon be playing in his new series. It didn't seem as if he was/is very interested in the character compared to others on his team. But who knows?

I always thought his time for a big push was when DD became leader of the Hand and all that Shadowland stuff and Hell's Kitchen needed a new hero. I know people were excited that it was BP but Sam just seemed a more logical choice to me. Still, I do think his time is coming and I hope they can elevate him so people can stop seeing just the "sidekick" and how much of a kickass hero Sam really is.

We just need a writer who has some great Falcon stories to tell. Rob Williams comes to mind just because his Falcon one-shot was really good. I also agree that his connection to birds and social worker aspects should be played up a bit more.

    If he's in Avengers 2.

But he could always be Black Widow'd.

Falcon does have at least one archenemy: Morgan who is to Harlem what the Kingpin is to Hell's Kitchen.

Criminal Scientist/Hot Babe Nightshade also made her first appearance in the Cap/Falcon book, so he could use her as well.

They could also bring back the Super Sailor/Dark Cap from the Priest Cap/Falcon book.

While I agree he'll get a push, I don't agree he's transcended the sidekick syndrome yet. He still essentially just shows up as a supporting cast member in Cap books.

That MIGHT change with greater involvement with the Avengers... we'll see. But he's not at that point yet IMO.

Though I was personally happy that Black Panther got the spot over Falcon (simply because I personally like Black Panther more) I do agree on paper Falcon makes more sense in that sort of urban situation.

I think marvel just went with a character that they had a bit more confidence in as far as carrying his own title. And I also think Marvel editorial has a BIT of a soft spot for T'Challa... which is why his books kept getting second chances, while other books weren't quite as fortunate.

Still, that's probably the sort of opportunity Sam really needs to break out on his own. But even if he doesn't, I think being in Avengers is still pretty good. And I would assume he'll continue to show up in Captain America now and then as well. So even if Falcon doesn't necessarily become the next Wolverine, in the least I don't think he'll be relegated to limbo anytime soon. He's at least on the board, and will likely continue to be. So the glass is at least half full. Plenty of characters can't say that.

Yeah I asked JHickman about the upgrades, wonder if it has anything to do with gold gauntlets. I and I also asked about the lack of Redwing and he replied to read and watch.
