Default The Walking Dead Trade Paperback - *Spoilers*

I started reading the Walking Dead in singles, but after a couple of issues being missed by my LCS, I switched to trades. I've been reading the trades ever since.

I want to talk about the book, but I also don't want to be spoiled about the things that have transpired within the monthlies. So, I'm hoping to start talking about the book for all the trade readers out there that are at the same place as me.

So I just finished reading volume 17: Something to Fear. Suffice to say, that the ever changing and dangerous world that Rick & Co. live in just got scarier.

    Look forward to the discussion.

Seeing how Vol 17 catches you up to issue 102, you are only 1 issue behind the monthlies, i think.

You mean a general trade-waiter's thread or just Walking Dead trade related?

Seriously? Hmmm...I kind of like the idea of having a stack of collected editions. It looks pretty awesome on a book shelf. Part of the reason why I switched to reading a lot of stuff in trades. It just looks better on the shelf.

I read the singles and pick up the HardCovers for my book shelf. hell, these days you could flip your singles on ebay to pay for the collected editions.

That's what I do. Buy the singles because I can't wait 6 months to read the story. Then sell them on ebay and buy the trade for the shelf / re-read.

2 trades a year is tough to wait for but its worth it when they come out. I really wish they turned this book into a bi-weekly.

Going forward, keep in mind that this thread is going to be full of spoilers. Anyone who has not read the trades all the way through may step in to a heaping pile of spoilers.

Fairly warned be thee, says I...for thar be spoilers ahead!

    So...umm...spoilers!

Still with us? Ok, I guess you aren't worried about anything being spoiled for you, cuz you have already read all the trades until volume 17: Something to Fear...

You know...I'm not sure why I was so shocked by the death of Glenn, but I was. This is the Walking Dead we're talking about. Death has been a part of this book since the inception and some of our more beloved characters have come and gone and I'm sure we all miss them. However, I did not expect Glenn to bite the bullet the way he did.

Holy shit that was a brutal kill. This guy, Negan, I so hope he gets tortured right before he gets killed cuz anything less than that is not going to feel satisfactory. It really won't. I don't know why this one hit as hard as it did, as there have been bad people in this world from the begining. The Governor killed Tyrese and Lori and Lori's baby, but man oh man, I don't think I felt as angry about those deaths than the way Negan killed Glenn.

I don't know. It hit hard and I will definitely miss Glenn.
