    Default Surprising Credits

Sometimes you get an idea of an actor, a writer, producer, whatever, and when you see their name attached to something you wouldn't have pegged as their element, it can be surprising, or annoying, but most of the time it changes the work and the person for you.

Finally noticing Dario Argento's name in Once Upon a Time in the West did it for me. Or, the moment I realized Parker Posey's been in three different comics-based movies that aren't even from the same company/franchise. Abel Ferarra's Body Snatchers remake, which I'd been actively avoiding, as a movie, until I realized who wrote the script and that Ferarra directed it.

So what/who is it for you? Who've been the big ones?

Well, the obvious for me is John Ratzenberger being in The Empire Strikes Back and the first two Superman movies.

Also, I was surprised to see that Sharon Stone was in Police Academy 4.

And, of course, there's Johnny Depp in the original A Nightmare on Elm Street and Kevin Bacon in Friday the 13th.

Ah well , before basic instinct , Sharon Stone was just a pretty face appearing in small roles. Think before basic instinct , her biggest role was like total recall with Arnold , stone also appeared in Steven seagal first movie "Above the law" as his wife.

For me , i was surprised to see Heather Langerkamp (Nancy in the original NOES franchise) in Cabin in the woods , not as an actress but helping out her husband in special makeup effects. She really should have done a cameo scene in the movie.

That is neat about Heather Langerkamp.

I can't think of any surprise credits at the moment.

Bill Murray and Willem Dafoe exploded away my brain with their cameo in this song:

    Seu Jorge, Tive razão

I mean, two US megastars in a brazilian song?

I spent years going W!T!F?!... til I watched The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and it all finally clicked.

James Cameron did SFX on Escape from New York. This sets up an interesting chain, though. Escape takes place in 1997. It ends with what appears to be the leadup to nuclear warfare. In Terminator, Judgement Day occurs in the year 1997.

Also Terminator related, remember in T2 when the T1000 asks a little red headed girl where John Connor is and she tells him at the Galleria? Nikki Cox.

Totally surprised to see Charlie Sheen in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Also, I was very surprised to see George Carlin play The Conductor in Shining Time Station.

Shortly after season 3 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I watched "True Lies", James Cameron's action comedy with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis. Took a slightly different tone when I realized that their daughter in the movie was Eliza Dushku.
