Yea, but as far as I know, Michael Bay has never written a blog post about fictional characters he dreams of fucking.

same thing with his response to Flash, why even go there? it's not even funny, it's weak. Dice Clay would have given it a thumbs down
I thought the Flash one was pretty funny. Even if you disagree, you can't argue that it wasn't a legitimate joke, with a punchline and everything. Actually, most of the comments work as jokes, if you read them properly.

He's not even saying the idea of gay sex is gross, he's saying the idea of sex with a shitty character like GAMBIT is gross. Which it is. There's nothing sexy about a guy who leaves his socks on in bed, especially the one on his head.

Yet I still don't consider the guy a saint. A possible closet racist maybe when taking his movies into consideration

Gunn isn't being singled out, those mentioned also have people that call out them out as well.

Yeah, the sad thing about Gunn isn't that his brand of stupidity is new, it's that it is common. It's sad that his voice is added to the chorus of sexism in the name of fun and comedy.

What's more sexist? Gunn writing a blog about how he'd like to have sex with female superheroes, or artists drawing said characters in skimpy clothing and suggestive poses? Hmmmmmmm....

Honestly, I would rather neither existed. I don't buy the 'they're worse things to complain about' defence, a larger crime doesn't render the smaller crime unimportant. Gunn messed up, and the fact that he deleted the post from his site tells me that even he knew it.

And yet people are ok with people like Ennis's immature humor? Or Family Guy and South Park's brand of immature humor?

Nothing is universally liked or hated. I don't care for Family guy or South Park, and I don't care for the idiocy expressed in Gunn's article. People are free to their opinions.

What did he write that was so homophobic? He made comments that he personally wouldn't enjoy doing certain things, but that doesn't make him homophobic, or is it all based on the name he called Gambit?

Well, he's getting tons of hits on his blog now. Someone with that type of sense of humour probably enjoys controversy like this.

I think overall people need to lighten up a bit. He obviously was just having fun and didn't mean anything horrible (they're fictional drawings for crying out loud). Most comedy these days is about shock value anyways. Who cares?

I've found that when the joke is directed your way and it bothers you that much, that the problem is less with the one making the comment and more with the one getting offended.

Yeah, that and the comments he made about 'turning' Batwoman, who is gay.

It's actually very insensitive imho, even if he didn't mean anything malicious by it. There's still a strong heterosexist bias in media as it is, so no, it's really not the same to joke about 'turning Batwoman hetero' as it is joking about 'turning Bruce Wayne gay', as someone suggested earlier this thread. That's a lopsided analogy.

It's funny to see people talk about getting this guy fired from his job yet I don't recall seeing any petitions to get Family Guy pulled from the air for the repeated misogynistic treatment of Meg.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!
