I know right. Maybe we would have been better off with Burton's Superman -- that way we would all hate it, together.

Never happen. I'm sure there would be those out there in comic book land that think it would be the greatest idea ever. The only problem is those people finally won and now run DC Comics and the WB movie department.

THATS how a Superman costume should look. I love the retro yellow added to the boots too. Shame well only see this in our dreams.

In the comics he's in the real world. The limitations of a comic inker need not apply here.

Those V sleeves serve the same purpose as Captain Marvel's gold wrist bands and the old red trunks. As others have pointed out, it's to break up the blue bodysuit.

If they had been red or yellow it would have helped more.

The MOS costume looks like a bad adaptation of Captain Marvel Jr's costume in many ways:



But like the rest of the Marvel Family, Jr's costume has other stuff going on so having no trunks works for it:



The worst thing about the MOS costume is not just no trunks, it's that they replaced the trunks with arrows pointing right at Superman's crotch, doing the exact OPPOSITE of what the trunks are designed to do, which is to provide modesty.



That costume is horrid. It's everything that is wrong with current superhero movie costumes-muted colors, essential elements deleted, stupid mesh patterns, just awful.
