Neeson still had to have talks about it. He just didn't show up and start filming. Nolan met with Neeson during pre-production and discussed his role and what his fee would be. He then visited the set and did his scene.

If you check Jackman's IMDB and wiki page , he doesn't have any projects ready to be filmed after Wolverine wraps. I'm sure the talks are to get the studio to sign off on paying Jackman for appearing in this film after he wraps Wolverine. Both are by 20th Century Fox. By just having himself attached...Singer has gotten Stewart and McKellan. I'm sure the studio is thinking this film is gonna do huge in 2014 once they sign Jackman.

It does... in talks ...means likely ironing out his role , his pay for the film...that stuff. I mean they are moving in at a good time to try and get him for this. Because he is gonna be in Wolverine shape right after he wraps Wolverine filming as well.
